Well, this is the family estate. I have put up this 'custom' post as I am about to post pics of my holiday and pics of my mates Golf which all involve the Aero. I have just put 1000 miles on the clock, and I can safely say:
a) Comfy load carrier
b) Bloody quick!
Here she is:

I shall be getting pics and vids up of the Aero and the 'red' golf ASAP :)
It's a nice family car IMO, and I agree with brembo: can't think any other car looking good with three spoke rims!

Great car jon, and good to hear from you after the events in London.
Have you 'inherited' it or did you just borrow it for your holiday?
Anyway, I am sure it was fun to drive :)

Currently I just inherited it for the week. However, I may well buy it off my parents when they change to allow my fiesta to come off the road for it's overhaul. My parents paid mid 30k for it, and if they were to take it to a dealer now, they would only get around the £3,000 mark!!!!

Nice car, can load lots of stuff and is quick. My dad has one too, though a '02 model (yeah, I know pics or stfu...). Even though it's an automatic, like yours, it still is bloody quick for a family car, especially re-accelerating at higher speeds can be impressive. Do I see it correctly you swapped the sport seats for the comfy ones? Any reason for it?
The 3-spoke rims look really good on the car, far better than the '02-'03 Aero rims.

I think we all have the same autobox in our 3 saabs, the ratios for each of the 4 gears are quite widely spaced, and boost is limited in the first two gears so the effect is a 'turbine-like' feeling when you accelerate from low speed to high speed. I think my max speeds in each gear are around 40mph in first, just over 70mph in second, and somewhere around 120mph in third gear before it clicks up into fourth.
I agree Wutputt, the cars seem to accelerate better at higher speeds - as boost is limited in first and second gear and you get the full pressure in third and fourth. 70-90mph acceleration can seem quicker than 50-70 for this reason.
While I haven't been there myself, once you hit about 146mph boost is reduced again to act as a kind of speed limiter. It might be a little higher in the aeros and viggens, 155 perhaps?
The Trionic engine management system in our cars is quite intelligent and learns your driving style - the quickest way to 'reset' it and force it to learn a maximum perfomance-style pattern is to disconnect the battery for 30 mins then go on a drive doing about 10 WOT runs in 3rd gear from about 40mph. Not so much accelerator pedal travel that the 'box kicks down into second, but enough to hold max torque in third gear throughout the rev range.

I have a 0-90mph vid of the dials, and fuck me it is quicker than it feels!
Vids are in the process of being sorted! 8)

I'd be interested to compare
How many seconds, roughly?
TCS on or off?
Now I have a camcorder I could do the same and we can have a jovial pissing contest yay!

Wohoo
It was between 5-6 seconds. The car flies to 50mph, then slows slightly, but will carry on pulling to figures that are a bit silly lol.
I will sort out a vid asap, I am just 'acquiring' some new editing software as my current stuff is mucking stuff up.
I also have a vid from 35mph to something around 80mph.

Yep, very nice looking on those stock wheels and its a car that is a class of its own I think, I mean Saab's in general, they are just different, no way you can compare it to Beemer's and Merc's and Audi's. That will be a hell of a deal for 3,000!

NO! to 60 LMAO. Looking at it again, it is more 6 seconds than 5.
I am putting a clip into the vault now...for some reason the sound did not come out, but hey, I'll do a proper job later.

I love the way the 9-5 looks....a great BMW or Mercedes alternative. My mom has a '99 9-5 sedan that's been nothing but trouble, though. It has 80,000 miles and has had 2 engine rebuilds and a new gearbox...thankfully, though the rebuilds we covered by an extended warrenty due to sludging problems...when it's not broken it's a blast to drive. Didn't Jeremy Clarkson say the Aero is faster from 50-70 than a Porsche Turbo?

I believe he did; but I think he was talking crap....although there is one way to find out! :P
I have to confess I have heard of and seen a few broken down 95's. We have never had a problem, although it has developed an interesting noise on full boost. Unfortunately the build quality is just not up there with BMW etc.
