Man sounds like a fun trip.
Wasn't like everyone of those surviving gtos in california last year for the concorse?
Id still rather drive my own car then the taxi though, though perhaps a ride along first with Sabine to get the line.

You lucky guy!
WOW, I think everybody would love a lap with the Taxi! Too bad it wasn't Sabine, but I suppose it's still plenty cool enough!

Sounds like a wonderful trip. That is a stunning GTO!
I think real current value is more like 8-10 million euro though.
Maybe 14 million for a '64 body, but that sounds a bit much.
The quoted value may still be left over from the 1989 boom.
Think about it, you can have one of the rarer P4's or even 1 of the 3 275GTB Speciale for 15 million euro. Its just hard to fix a price because they are sold so rarely.
Personally I think its still insane. Of course I may think differently if I was rich enough... 8)
What are your thoughts on the M5?

I bet that it sure was quite an experience 8) Going around the Nordschleife at high speed and probably taking most bends with slight or major oversteer :D
Talking about the Ring-Taxi driver ... we always end up with Sabine :D Which is great of coarse :D Well then the following picture popped up http://www.soete.com/ring/index2003.html (scroll down and it's the photo on the left side of coarse)
Cheers

I've driven the 'Ring plenty of times in my own and rental vehicles but it is nothing compared to being piloted by a BMW factory driver in a 507 hp M5. It wasn't a busy day on the North Loop as it is GP Truck weekend but we did manage to pass everything within our site on the track to incluse 997S, Lotus Exige, Super 7, and a few others that were left as a blur in my memory. Of course it depends all on the drivers ability but this car is insanely fast! It was actually very cool being piloted by someone who helped design the M5. As for the car itself, if i could afford it's price tag i would purchase one myself for long excursions. The SMG was instant and that V-10 so brutal it blows away the feeling i had when riding as passanger in both a 993 Turbo (408hp) and 993 RUF BTR-2 (426HP). When i remembered to check the speedo we managed to hit 240 kph i think maybe topped out at 250 kph which is damn fast for a stock car this size around the North Loop in my opinion. Only thing they change is the brake pads as all else on the Ring Taxi is the same as customer M5's. It's sold out until next year but if you ever get the chance to reserve a ticket it's definately worth 175 Euro for 3 pax. And no you can't choose the driver...I'll just see if Sabine is my driver for next years lap.

The 250GTO value is far below what many people think it is these days.

The cars value and what a moron at say barret jackson are willing to pay for it are two seperate things.

TT,
No I didn't, first time i saw the Ring Taxi was in 2002 and as I asked about how to get a lap in it. It was already booked far into 2003 so when i departed Europe for a year I vowed to come back and get a lap in the Taxi and I just managed to do so!
Can't stop thinking about it either.
Even more rare than the 250 GTO but worth less...(est 8 million Euro)

Must be a great experience to lap the Nordschleife in a Ring taxi. Where is the ring museum exactly located?

Right next to the F1 circuit. Big aluminum siding buildings with the Fascination Experience logo on the sides in yellow and red.

Thanks, I didn't know that was a museum. Maybe I should have looked better at it, instead of the cars passing by the last time I was at the ring (already to long ago).

if the gto is say 5 million euros isnt a euro worth 2 american dollars so that would be 10 million which is probobly what you would pay because one sold on barret jackson for 16 million us dollars but cars on barret jackson are absolutely immaculate
