Just got a letter in the mail from the insurance company, asking me my version of an accident that had happened on the 31st of january.

I was like "WTF?"

So I called the insurance company, asking what is was all about. Apparently I had an accident somewhere in England on the 31st of January. She couldn't tell me all the details since she didn't knew them herself. She could only tell us what police department is was...

Or someone has shit in his eyes and can't read license plates. Or someone is using mine on his car or this is a complete invented story to get some damages back...

So they traced back to your insurance by license plate (cloned car?) or somebody gave your insurance details. The latter is more worrying if its the case, indetity stealing is becoming a big thing, lets hope its just a simple mix up!

Surely without a police report it is just a bunch of crap and your standard answer should be :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist:

^^^ agree, wait till the cops come to you, don't pay anything, just get a good alibi, (something along the lines as not being in london @ that time  )
and you should be fine,
good luck, hope it all gets fixed.

Id actually contact the insurance company and the police department directly rather then wait. It sucks to have to deal with but if you let it go its liable to kick you in the nads when you least expect it.

Im not saying pay.. Im saying tell the insurance company there is fraud involved.

^ yeah if we were talking France or the Netherlands there would be no record of Thamar travelling but as UK is an island you'd have had to take a ferry or chunnel to get there and there would be some record of you booking a ticket (although now that I think about it not necessarily in Thamars name). Anyway, once you find out the time and date no doubt it'll be when you were at college or work or something

Good luck T 8)

What a poor scam - that's the OLDEST trick in the book.

That green, no red - I mean blue car over there hit me... yeah that's it.

Was a police report filed? If not then how can there be proof an accident occured on 31 January 2005 - only to be reported to insurance carrier on March 31st?

Puhlease.

Again - I am pretty sure you are obliged to report accidents to the police in the UK as well.

If not - then you all deserve to lose all your money and collapse into a chaos and anarchy and lawlessness because y'alls EU system is a bunch of corrupt mallarchy... :P :)

you certainly are required by law to report all accidents, even if you only damage somebodies hedge or something i believe. the question is where she got the reg from, maybe it was a clone or similar plate. Sounds like a scam based on the delay though.

But it seems like the brits don't care that much about a hit'n run if there isn't anybody hurt.

yeh often the police don't  probably due to the number who drive without insurance :(

I know here if the damage is under $500 (i think that is the magic number) you don't have to call the police, but if the police are called it will show up on your insurance :( even if the damage is under $500
