I am thinking about buying a "Crosman King Ratcatcher 'Total Pest Control'" for some vermin control it seems to be a general upgrade from the standard "Rat Catcher" (listed above it) except for one part...
The standard rat catcher has a "Crosman Class 111A Laser" which is the red dot laser targeting system I think (£54.99 ) where as the King Rat Catcher has a Hawke Tactical Laser Sight (£29.95).
Does anyone know what the difference is between the sights and also why the upgraded one would be cheaper ??
Any help in general on the subject would also be appreciated.

i think the tactical laser doesn't actually project a laser on the target itself, that way it doesn't alert the pest to your presence  Which is why it would be cheaper.
Wish i could find a silencer for my gun here :(

Hmm I thought as much...do you know how its targeting system would work then ?

I believe it has a glowing dot in the sight that doesn't actually project. It looks to be battery powered, but the pic isnt' too clear :? For the scope and all, it's going to take a couple hours to get it all sighted in. By that time, every rat within 2 blocks will have an idea as to what's going on so you'll probably never see them unless the gun is too far away to pop them off  (that always happens to me when stalking bushy tailed tree rats)

So more of a novelty than a practical aid you think ??

yeah that's basically a reddot sight rather than a laser sight I've got one for my paintball gun it just puts a red dot on your sight so that it doesn't project on the target they are pretty much worhtless. I prefer a green laser for night games swith a decent night vision scope that works way better.
Awesome... unless it's Robin Hood... in tights.. ;)

So I guess thats why its fitted with the Tracer Atom Gun Lamp then ?

yeah that lamp seems to be a low reflection lamp they use those because they are less likely to freak out the animals ( I may be wrong it could be a normal mini-spot light)
sod the air rifle Jabba, get a Bow instead,i can get you a nice discount on stuff like that.lol

A crossbow might be a better idea? I'd imagine it is easier to learn to use and shoot accurately...
What about a cat, Jabba?

I never figured you for a softie.
A very important thing about an airgun is that it has a rifled barrel and double stage trigger. Also, choose your ammo carefully. You wouldn't believe how big of a difference the quality of the ammo makes.

see how much an exterminator would cost you.
see how much traps cost you
see how much the guns cost
then what one do you want to pay for?
if you dont want to kill the bastards then i recommend an Air Soft gun, although if you get a gas powered mauser you would kill the lil fucks, and have fun too. 8)

why not get a .22 caliber rifle and a nice night vision scope??
the .22's are very low in firing, and pack a nice little punch when it comes to rodents.
Considering the gun laws in the UK, he'd probably have to go through a bunch of paperwork before buying one. Also, if it's anything like it is here, it's illegal to fire within city limits. A BB gun techinically is as well, but if you have a fenced in yard, who's gonna know? Whereas, the whole neighborhood will know if you are shooting a .22! LOL
Don't use BB's, they don't go straight. Make sure to get some good pellets.
I've used those laser scopes, pretty worthless IMO. You just need to practice.
Also, make sure to hit a vital area of whatever you want to die. (head, heart) Growing up where I did (read: middle of nowhere), I've shot all kinds of critters, more often than not, you'll just make it run away!

The Ratcatcher is a .22 CO2 Rifle.
The Ultimate in close range Pest Control. Ultra compact at 14.6 inches. Ultra light at 3.5 lbs and at approx 8ft/lbs more than enough power.
"Stacks of whack, the most powerful CO2 in the UK. The bolt operates as smoothly as silk, with a well engineered snick." - Airgunner magazine.
Comes complete with a Crosman 4x15 scope, ProBlox, Mounts and 10 CO2 Capsules.

Yep I have a fenced in lawn of an acre or so and there are just empty fields beyond that.... with no neighbours to speak of plus with the silencer I should be ok with a bit of luck...

I am not really into killing things that are doing me no harm and I have put up with my current pigeon problem for a good few months now...however it has now gone beyond a joke with about 30 of them (and increasing weekly) shitting over everything (inc my cars) and its taking hours to clean up the mess every weekend...plus they keep waking me up at like 5am by walking across my roof....it might not sound serious...but it has really started to piss me off big time....I can co-exsist with say 12 but I am slowly being taken over by the damn things...
I think the gun is sadly the only way to go for them...as I could only think of poison as an alternative..and I don't want to harm the other birds and animals in the garden that are doing no harm....

Yep...gonna try some of these :
Crosman Verminpell : The .22 Verminpell is the no.1 choice for close range humane pest control, where maximum energy on impact and restricted penetration is a necessity.

Last time i tried to 'subtly' shoot some crows and pigeons on a quiet sunday afternoon with the neighbours in their gardens i decided to use the air rifle we have at home, its pretty damn old, fooking heavy and not that powerfull.
I hit about 3 pigeons and they just kept fuckin flying! Hit one crow and grounded it, then spent the next 15 minutes following the crawwwwwing noise to find the injured crow in the woods across the road.
Found it, then attempted to beat it to death on a fence post (didnt have gun) it fooking bit my on the web between my thumb and finger!!! Little fucker got it then!
As a result, i only ever use a 12 bore now. much more effective
