View Full Version : Jun 27 - Helping a friend taking delivery of his Gallardo!!!
Today I had one of the best car related days of my life. I was asked by my new Lambo friend to help him taking delivery of his latest baby, his 5th Lambo, a blue Gallardo Le Mans. It happened Saturday evening and tomorrow at 8 am we took of to drive the 200 km north to the Affolter dealership.
He is such a great guy, I really respect him and he is sooo friendly, so open and cool! Top guy!!
He was so excited! This is actually the 9th Diablo he buys but it was like the first one, I am sure. Also because it was his first E-Gear.
Anyway, the trip was cool, the A4 is a great long distance car, it was an auto so very comfy..
We arrived there at 10:30 or something like that, and the Le Mans was sitting there, outside the dealership. I don't usually like "tuned" Lambos, but in blue it is damn sexy! even with blings rims actually!
It was such a weird experience, even if the car wasn't mine.. totally different than taking delivery of a regular car. The team knows him very well of course and we got a warmn welcome and all. The they started to show him the various controls while I was taking the first pics.
Right away he wanted to see if the sport exhaust was worth the money and guys, IT IS!
Small vid, not even close to be floored, the car having near to 0 km on the clock:
http://rapidshare.de/files/2636828/Mvi_0847.avi.html
The another friend arrived with his orange Diablo SV. He wanted to witness the delivery and drove the 200 km north too. And quickly too!
Anyway noon arrived so we went to a Pizzeria in a village nearby and while a a fourth friend was driving the Audi, I jumped in the SV!
http://img32.echo.cx/img32/461/lamborghinidiablo9999rb.th.jpg (http://img32.echo.cx/my.php?image=lamborghinidiablo9999rb.jpg)
Wicked car, very sporty, fast and loud: impossible to talk. and hard even if you will scream!
the pizzas disposed we drove back to the garage, I was in charge of the A4 this time :P
And finally after some more details, time it was to come back home with our small Audi/Lambo convoy :D
He wanted to enjoy the first km solo, but after a while he stopped to take me in the Le Mans and the result is a 100 km passenger dream in a marvellous car. The sport exhaust really improves the experience and it's much louder. The downshifts with the throttle blips are orgasmic and always made me smile, even while following in the A4 with windows closed and air con at full boost!
It's an harsch ride, but not that bad, the seats are kinda comfy. The Audi controls, simple and usefull and the e-gear apparently very very funny!!
What a blast!!
Bored? Are you sleeping? Here are the pics!
Ok, let's start with the car that took us there. A 4500 km old A4 1.8T (the 164 hp version, not the 190 one as I first thought), rented for the occasion.

Beautiful.
Racing stripes are fine on cars like this, IMHO. It's just that they look a bit stupid on a Ford Focus!
I can feel the excitement you experienced just reading your post TT!

The quality of those pictures is simply stunning...obviously we have discussed the rest back channel :D
BTW, a point I forgot to discuss in the first post: to be able to have such a long experience is so much different than what I experienced so far.. ok we are talking about Diablo, Murcielago, Enzo and so on, but always quick blasts with ppl I didn't know, official test drivers, owners and such.. it's totally different than beeing in a car for a long moment and with somebody you know! You can really fully appreciate the details!

WOW !! That car is really cool :o The sexy color with the racing stripes and the chromed wheels make the Gallardo very sexy. Excelent choice!! But that blue dashboard doesn't look so good IMO
Pick up a brand new supercar should be an awesome experience, even it isn't the first one 8)
Good luck to your friend with his new ride !

I'm glad to hear it all worked out as planned, but didn't you tell me you were renting a Passat or did I not listen?
Anyway who cares about an A4 or Passat when you have a Gallardo and SV at your disposal- must have been a sensational experience and as TransAm said you can feel the excitement in your words! :D
I know it had 0.0km but whats the top speed he got to in the Gallardo, and what about the Diablo?
Thanks again for the story and all the great pics! :D

Looks nice. From the second picture (profile shot) I am reminded of the Pagani Zonda with similar looking wings.
Actually the blue looks so bright, it looks photoshopped or even as if it is from a video game screenshot - see the shot with the G-car ahead of the orange SV. Of course it is real as we trust you TT :)

Thanks guys! I am surprised to see everybody seems to like the wing and even the rims! Nobody screaming "rice!!" :D cool.
Funny side note: everybody knows the Gallardo Polizia right? Well the local police of the village where my friend lives asked him already if they could put some Police stickers on his Gallardo to take some pics :D :!::!::!::!::!::!:

Yes I rented a Passat online but when I popped up at their office, they had to give me a car from the class above it since no more Passat were available ;)
As for top speed, in the Diablo it was a coutry road between two villages and I saw around 120, same goes for the Gallardo, some 120 on a B road and then around 130 on the highway to avoid troubles ;)
nice pics and the SV looks AWESOME, the gallardo is ok.
so whats so special about this lemans edition??
The Le Mans kit is a special production by Ital Car Design, aka Affolter garage. it's basically just visual mods, but of course you can always specify a free exhaust like he did, revised ECU and more ;)
I hat eyou TT :P

Damn TT, I can feel the excitment in your post!
Thx for the report, I bet you had a great time in the lambo!
Thx a bunch for the pics!
Imo, the stripes are not neccecary, but I've seen worse. And I guess I'd have to see the car in real....
That blues colour rocks!
Thx!

that's the reason why we don't drive a lambo. we spend too much time on jw instead of earning money for a lambo! :D
this is an absolutely great story TT - and as usual, your pics are great, absolutely great! This is a day which i guess you'll not have very soon anymore. unless you buy a lambo for yourself soon :D

Wow what a trip, as the other said, you can really feel the excitment. Great write up.
The pics turned out nice as usual, Not a fan of those Chrome wheels, i love the standard ones so much better! This guy does sound like a complete lambo nut, great to see his spending his hard earned cash on these beautys!

Wow TT you are the man. Once he gets some miles on the clock, you gotta get us some vids. Its nice to have some connections to people that own these awesome cars.
I really like the stripes and the chrome wheels. wonder how much that cost? Did he get those put on at the dealer or what? I really like the Gallardo, an awesome way to spend his money, congrats to him.

mmm, sex on wheels :D
I like the color, so bright and purrty. I like the stripes, the wing and the rims. All of it in fact :D No rice in here IMO!!!
Andre is one lucky man, haha. I hope he'll display it outside the usual spot, so maybe I'll go check it out sometimes *thumbs up*
Shin, for sure he will. The car was on display yesterday and we brought it back home at around 8 pm since the rain was coming.
Today it was there the whole morning, then again, a bit of rain so all the cars went back to the garage, but it will be quite easy to see it on a sunny day :)

This will defenitely be a day you won't easily forget. Must be an awesome experience to pick up a brand new Lambo at the dealership. I like the colour of the car and even the Le Mans package with the striping and the wings. But the the wheels are far to bling for my taste.
Nice little vid, the exhaust tone is very nice even though he didn't floor it. It must sound awesome at full throttle. You should post a new vid of it after the brake in periode :D
And the pics are stunning as always. Hope to see/hear some more stuff of your Lambo friend. It sounds like he's a really great guy!

Wonder people do for a living if they can actually afford a Gallardo?
banking and investment... or a really good going business! :) :) :)
Oh, you would be surprised to know he owns 2 Diablo GTR Evoluzione, a Diablo 6.0, a Murcielago and a Gallardo Le Mans, but just runs a small petrol station, every day from 8 am to 10 pm..
Of course this is not the time or place to discuss about how he made his money and IMO it doesn't really matter, as long as ppl won't start saying he must be a drug dealer
He has the money to follow his passion, he has the heart to share with others, this is it :good:

Did he ever heard about Ferrari or Porsche ??
Everybody who has a lot of money allways loves just one manufecturer. We always see garages with a lot of Ferrari's or Porsche's or Lambo's like this one. We don't see a guy who has the 3 at the same time, or at least is quite rare.
But I understand..... despite I would prefer to have Ferrari's instead of Lambo's :P
He actually owned a couple of Ferrari too in his early years, a Mondial for sure. Porshe never. Just not exclusive enough but he loves the CGT (a friend of his owns a black one).
Beside his 5 Lambo he is in love with big Mercedes cruiser and when needed he has a 600SEL Brabus.
Anyway, his heart is 100% Lambom but he respect Ferrari and other supercars manufacturers.
BTW, Jabba owns a Lambo and a Ferrari :P

this may seem a silly question to ask, but if the brake lights are on, in this picture the lights appear to be in a different position, the left hand side is far on the edge, the right hand side is on the inside of the unit...
http://www.swisscarsightings.com/lamborghini/thumbs/Lamborghini%20Gallardo%20752.jpg
but apart from that, I am suitably jealous like everyone else, as the closest I got to a lambo today was a blue Diablo 6.0 driving towards me with the reg plate D17 BLO which was rearranged to say DIABLO :D

Dang, you are right dude, I didn't realize that and it seems strange. Since they had to remove the rear lights to darken them, they maybe did a little mistake while plugging the cables back?
edit - just gave him a call but it is raining and he put the cars back in the garage so he can't check right now. For sure I am puzzled, I'm gonna check my Gallardo pics to see if there is another one with the brakes lit on

Well yes just for the rcords it was obviously inversed cables.. the painfull thing is that you can reach the rear lights cables from inside the engine bay like I first though (idiot :D): you need to lift it, remove the wheel, remove the covers inside the wheelarch and you will finally find it

You need to do exactly the same thing on a f355 to reach the battery. Apperently those little things aren't as easy on supercars as on every day cars :D
Yep, definitely a supercar has to have some sort of "downsides" if it wants to be a proper supercar :D
