I've searched the forums and found no post related to this so sorry if there happens to be one out there!

The new Impreza has raised its product appeal by redefining its sporty looks and the drivability inherent to this model. Quality feel has been further enhanced while functionality has also been augmented in the newly designed front bumper, grille, and headlights, as well as in other interior and exterior design changes.

The Impreza WRX STI now boasts a maximum engine torque of 422 Nm (43.0 kg/m), nearly perfecting its already outstanding performance and drivability.

The model also features an mproved version of the driver’s control center differential (DCCD), an electronically controlled All Wheel Drive (AWD) system that adds a torque-sensitive, mechanical limited-slip ifferential (LSD). Balancing high levels of maneuverability and stability, it embodies driving pleasure.

Impreza’s exterior designs have been made more fully aerodynamic, in recognition of its participation in high-speed rally events and motor sport activities.

Since 2003 FHI has been strengthening its support of the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT), which takes part in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).

FHI and SWRT have been closely working to improve on vehicle performance in rallying, to accumulate know-how with the feedback from rallying experience, and to apply that know-how and technology to the production of the Impreza base model.

i'll wait for my real judgement on the car when it comes into the dealer and i'll go for a drive in it, but until then, i'm not too happy with the design, but power should be good, and with the 2.5 engine coming to the UK from dealers instead of Litchfield Imports, there should be even more potential power on tap :D

Please post one picture of the engine, if you find such. I haven´t seen any pictures of MY06 Impreza, while bonnet is popped up.

Interestingly, there's a tiny difuser in the STi model.

i'm pretty sure it will work, the impreza could benefit from it, even if its only a little bit

The interior looks a lot nicer than the older models, the front looks ok. :)

What I do not like is the rear. It looks like nothing with those big "globulous" (does it make sense in english?) lights. And what about the small wing on the rear window??? :?

They will fit 16'' wheels on the STI, or does it only look like 16'' wheels? : :|

I think it looks great!!
Not sure about the second spoiler tho on rear window, and I admit it could look alil more agressive. But I still think it looks great.

Yeah, it is suppose to pay homage to their parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries.

It represents an airplane fuselage and the wings. . . I guess you could kind of see it 8) .

That car loos like crap. They must try harder and change design to the good not to the worse like on this one!

I actually kinda like it (must be the only one here :P ).
The front end looks pretty sleek to me, and I dont' mind the rear at all. Only thing which is iffy on looks to me is that little spoiler on the rear window (though spoilers similar that look great on Ferrari 308s).
I'm quite glad they kept the basic form of the fenders and side the same as the old models too.

Welll considering when the first bug eye WRX came out, ppl complained that it looks weird and stuff. Then there came the restyled front end, ppl who complained about the bug eye was saying the bug eye is actually better looking and more unique.

Conclusion: WRX (Sti or not) is not a good looking car period. It is what's under the skin that decieve us from the looks. Transition is always hard, so put it as ur wallpaper...stare at it everyday ...and one day, u will push thru and say "hey, it is not that bad....I think I can live with the looks"

in the UK when the bug-eye was released sales dropped by over 40%, but then the current model came along and it was bought up really quick, now its quite rare to see a bug-eye here, they were all sold in favour of the new design, I see more P1's than bug-eyes, which I think is great, because I dont like the bug-eye.

It will be interesting to see how this new design will affect sales

Haha, that's true. A lot of people complained about the bug eye, then when the current ones came about, people said it did not look "rally" enough.

I think this car looks good except for Subaru's new corporate grill.

The MY06 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
June the 17th sees the launch of the new 2006 Subaru Impreza STI.

We are currently taking orders for the first MY06 STI’s and will have in the UK shortly. Call now for all of the ordering information.

The Model Year ’06 car has had a significant cosmetic and aero dynamic makeover with a completely redesigned front end, new roof spoiler and changes to the rear tail lights. As well as improving the cars looks these changes have had a dramatic effect on the cars aero dynamics reducing lift at the front and improving high speed stability.

Type25 specs will come shortly, that is the real HOT version, like with MY05, 350hp out from showroom, and AST suspension.

The MY06 Japanese car uses a revised version of the Twin Scroll turbo, equal length manifold and semi-closed deck engine block which allow the engine to produce an amazing 311lbft of torque in standard form (up 8lbft on last years JDM model).

As with all of our JDM Subaru’s the ECU is remapped and tuned for the UK’s lower octane fuel and these new improvements mean we will be able to offer even greater performance on the new model. Each car will be individually tuned on our Rolling Road and we expect to see 320bhp from the standard car with improved fuel consumption. This figure will improve drastically when mated to our new high flow exhaust system and induction package.

One of the biggest changes to the new MY06 Impreza line up is that the amazing Spec C has become more mainstream without dulling its performance. The Spec C has been further improved following all of testing at places like the Nurburgring. The 2005 Spec C Limited recently set a laptime of 7:59mins around the circuit in standard form! Subaru have made a real effort with the Spec C and this is now homologated for Group N rallying insuring a competitive package straight from the showroom.

Mechanically the Japanese STI is much improved over the UK cars engine and chassis setup featuring:

* Revised Engine internals
* Equal Length exhaust Manifold
* Twin Scroll Turbo
* Revised ECU
* Different inlet Cam
* Revised exhaust
* HID Drivers headlights
* Automatic intercooler water spray button
* Sports ABS
* Front mounted water spray bottle
* Red backlit dials
* Additional card holder

* Tyre width up from UK’s 225/45 17” to 235/45 17”
* Improved Steering speed and feel
* Rear windscreen wiper

* The Japanese STI and Spec C also features Front Strut Brace
* Revised centre diff control unit with additional sensors
* New larger intercooler design

The MY06 Spec C is much lighter (upto 120kg) than the standard STI with lightweight glass, roof, boot lid etc. It also has:

* 12 Litre Intercooler water spray bottle behind the rear seats for better weight distribution with automatic mode as well as the Manual mode like the UK.

* Roof vent

* The Spec C is fitted with a different radiator, water pump and additional engine & transmission oil coolers for improved cooling under track conditions.

* A Roller bearing version of the Twin Scroll turbo is fitted to the Spec C.

* The Spec C also gets a rear strut brace as standard.

We can now order the Spec C with luxury items like Air-Conditioning, body coloured mirrors and Electric windows which until now were only reserved to the Limited Edition models. It can be ordered in 5 colours to the previous 2 (White & WR Blue).
