Lol. I wouldn't be that harsh. It isn't much of a change though.
It's almost like: "I know, let's add flares..."
They've shown it themselves.... the car looks like a jumped up e-class.... those are e-class wheels
Lacks the distinctiveness of the 7-Series and seems to be too passive.... not enough sporty intent etc.. :|

I dont like the extended wheel arches at all. Just a bad evolution of the outgoing model

To me it looks like the Acura RL has clashed with a Maybach 57, and the result, the new mercedes S class.

i was thinking it doesn't look like anything we know in particular... more like a mix... and will ultimately be the same as every other mercedes in terms of styling. bland/compfortable/huge
the CLS IMO is the best looking 4 door on sale right now, but rather then continuing on a style that is good, they seemed to have taken the basic shape of the SLK roof, and extended it, and the wheelbase to make a chris-bangle-like shape that really doesnt look so proud. im 100% sure it will do just fine at a sales standpoint, but i see nothing important about this cars looks. nothing that shouts 'get out of the way, cant you see im going 250 kph, and i need to get to work on time????' it blends all to well with more economical cars[stylistically]
It looks kind of CLS from the side with a bit of Maybach on the rear to me

Thanks for the pics Just_me. Overall I think it looks really good. The steeringwheel is not so nice IMO and I think it's a little (maybe not so little) 7-series on the dash. Even if I'm a little biased I can't help thinking this new S-class will crush it's opponents.. In general I'm glad that Mercedes hasn't fallen for som Bangle new Age design. Think luxury cars should look classy..

alright since it has already been bumped S63 AMG Spyshots.

Mercedes-Benz already unveiled official pictures of the upcoming 2007 S-Class, but our latest spy photos indicate that the 2007 Mercedes S63 AMG isn't too far behind. Identifiable by its signature AMG quad exhaust pipes, this prototype was caught undergoing hot weather testing in Death Valley, California. Also in attendance were AMG versions of the 2006 M-Class and 2006 R-Class.
Powering these AMG prototypes is an all-new normally aspirated 6.3-liter V8. Expected to produce around 500 horsepower, this new V8 will be used throughout the Mercedes lineup in various levels of tune. Although not much more powerful than the current supercharged 5.5-liter V8, it should offer a more linear power delivery since it won't rely on a supercharger or turbos for added boost. This new engine may also benefit from the use of Mercedes' seven-speed automatic transmission, although it's currently only in use behind the less powerful 355-hp V8 in the SLK55.
All of the prototypes spotted showed additional signs of AMG tuning with larger wheel-and-tire combinations and more aggressive bodywork. The S63 will probably end up becoming the most popular of the three vehicles, but given that the ML is already on sale with the R-Class expected by the end of the year, it's not clear which one of these AMG rockets will show up first.
