View Full Version : What attracted you to your current true love...???
Car Love that is... :P
What single image, event, taste, smell sight causes you to still think of your car the way you did when you first saw/heard/smelled it and said "I have got to have one of those...!!!!"
This is what did it for me:

When I saw this image I fell in love. Coupled with the go faster hardware it is a pure bliss.
I have yet to see an image/rendering of the C6 Z06 that invokes the same feeling that this image does.
So - let's hear about it - what get's your knees weak about your automotive true love?

50:50 weight distribution. Plus, my dad gave it to me, so that kinda helped.

For me it was when I saw an W 210 E55 Brabus driving during summer veryyy slowwww in front of me, I almost fainted.
Still sends shivers down my spine
(edit) due to RC post: Well my love for the E55 came partially true as I bought a diesel E class  Not quite the same, but hey, I'm getting there

I don't remember if it was the fact that i got her running myself, or the sound of the engine idling with open headers with the occasional throttle snap :D
But once i got her new struts all the way around, and was really able to hammer on it, the poison was in my veins :D I've been hooked on Z cars ever since

I would say it was when I heard the whine of that Supercharger at full throttle on the '03 + Cobras

for me ill talk about my sold car since its sold, but what attracted it to me was the passion my dad had for it, i was like why does he like it so much, and he started modding it so i started getting into it, but what i really think made it was that my dads "car friends" were all getting them and modding them and stuff so i dont know it just made it feel important, and me :)
First time hearing a Vanquish at full load in the flesh.

Ferrari 550, one of my all time favorties, car that made me fall in love with Ferrari.
I fell in love with it in NFS3, I just never seen a car that looked so damn elegant and was so damn fast.......I remeber from previous NFS titles the fast cars were the radical looking things like GT90, Macca, Diablo, but here is a car that looks simple and goes.........yeah I got it from a game
I hadn't intended the topic to be "fanatasy lovers"... ;) --- but more the "reality" you wakeup to in the drive way every morning.. :)
Fantasy wise I have the F40 to keep me company in my memories.

well if you mean the car we drive now then it was the first time I got the tail out on my T-bird. But I am going to buy a Cobra the instant I get out of school so...

well I have accepted that I drive a Thunderbird and it's actually a very nice car to cruise in and it does have the V8 so I can take a fair amount of cars out there with it. And when I graduate from College I get a nice little bank so I'm not going to go out and buy a Corvette unless it's a Z06 and I wouldn't be able to afford that and get a house etc... so I'll go for the next best thing a Cobra.

That was the thing that attracted me to the Z cars. Nothing fantasy about it

My true love? I can't name but one I have so many
But in reality the first time I ever heard the Carrera GT I almost passed out from excitment.

well...
True love, far from it for loving my jeep
I care for it like i would care for the cars i truly love. and there are a few 'realistic' ones in my thoughts.
i can love the image, and videos i see of ferraris, but i cannot feel the passion of driving one (until July 9th) the ONE thing which has caused me to get week in the knees over a car is how it drives!! it is what caused me to loose interest in the SN95 Mustangs, and 4th Gen Fbodies, and made me one of the most emphatic corvette lovers, and WRX backers... and defender of the 05 mustang...
three cars ive driven on several ocassions, and three very different experiences that each provided, and not any one sence that made it stand far out in the crowd... except the 'vette.
nothing in its price bracket (affordable to me) can even touch it. nothing... it is the end of the story :-D it goes like stink, corners so quickly that i loose balls before it gives out (so far) I love the idea of being a 'boy-racer' rather then a 'street-racer' and nothing i know of will offer me such satisfaction and gratification on a daily basis as even a C4 can.
if i have the opertunity, a C5 coupe is in my near future... provided i can find one that is worthy of me ;) but i'll settle for an LT1... its a better overal motor then the LS1 anyway.
one day, i hope to have the opertunity to expand my horizons, but until then, a corvette is more then enough to fulfill my appitite

I consider your question more in the vein of "why I fell in love with the current car I drive, and why I bought it" rather then "why I fell in love with a 360, and haven't even had a chance to drive one" ;)
I had an older SLK, and loved it due to the convertible aspect, and the looks. I really loved that car. I grew to like convertibles after spending a weekend cruising the french riviera in a friends MX5.
Fast forward some years, and the new SLK is about to come out. At first I'm not too fond of the looks, but when I saw it in the flesh, I totally fell in love. About half a year later, I end up getting a chance to drive the AMG version (I drove the 200 1.8 liter several times before this).
The handling, comfort and power totally won me over. For this price tag, I could have bought a second hand 360 or some other nice second hand cars, but I told myself that at least once in my life, I want to own a brand new car, so I took the leap of faith and bought my AMG, and javen't had any regrets since then.
8800km's, 7 months of ownership, and all troublefree :D
This car is a definitive improvement over the old SLK, and for this price tag, one doesn't get many cars with a large, powerful engine, especially a luxury car marque like MB, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, etc... ok, I could have gotten several awesome cars for the amount I paid for my SLK, but... I love the looks of my car, and the convertible aspect :)
the First time i put my Jeep into 4Low :P Then the first time i got the back end to slide around on some dirt, then again when i crawled up some rocks, then again when i did a nice burnout.
