wow nice car...i love the 944....especially the 2nd series, the interior is so much nicer than the old one...
to be really honest, i dont really like the rear light/reflector/whatever it is very much...but tastes differ (luckily).
Ever thought of putting a Turbo front bumper on it? i personally think that looks very good too
but as i already said, very very nice car, i hope to own a 944 in a couple of years too...

Nice car! I need to post pics of the Porsche a friend of mine left in my garage a few years back for one year (it was quite modified, just not legal due to Swiss road laws, something to do with the brakes).

Guess I'll post it in the "what you saw today" category =)

Thanks guys.

As for the Turbo front end, my dad has a 1988 944S and he put the Turbo rear valance on it. He is trying to find a Turbo front end for it at a resonable price. He recently bought some 911 Carrera rims for it. they look awesome! I also understand about the rear light. The main reason we put it on is that it is next to impossible to see the car in the dark, so the light really helped with safety.

You have a very beautiful red Porsche 944. I dreamed to have one in the Eighties ! :D

I am astonished by the good condition of your vehicle...your Porsche is definitively in good shape. I very like your V1 setup.

Nice 944 dude, thanks for the pics and most imporant, thanks for reading the rules ;)

Just out of curiosity, is the 944 rare in the US BTW?

hmm yeah if ur car has been rear ended once already, i understand u dont want it to happen again...

Nah, the 944 isnt too rare in the US. There are a few of them running around my city, but most of the people who own them are all really big porsche fans and are really nice and cool to talk to.

Lovely 944! And 2nd gen! :P Very nice car, love it and want to have one(before 911*cough*) cause its not expensive and its a Porsche :D

Those lights and rear bumper are on US models, EURO models have them different and I like those more

HI nice to see another 944 driver !
Impressive condition after such an amount of miles.
Is it the first cover paint?
You donīt mention any restauration ?

ViperASR
06-10-2005, 06:52 PM
yea, 1st cover paint, no real restoration, just fix it as it breaks things. New ceramic clutch, things like that that wear out we replace with newer better parts. Dropping the transmition really sucks, as I am sure that you know, because the 1st step in any job you have to do on the car is "Remove Transmition"

I love these cars though. Do you own a Turbo, or what? I really want my dad to buy a Turbo, he is just worried about how long they last.

I hope you'll forgive the unsolicited advice, but I'd suggest putting the original catalytic converter back on if you still have it. The engine was designed to work with some backpressure, and you are probably losing power without it.

The car's looking good, especially considering its age. Has the engine been rebuilt?

We made a special bracket for it and wired it to the cars ignition, so it is very hard for a cop to notice it.

Since when are radar detectors illegal in Florida?

ViperASR
11-16-2006, 10:43 PM
Not illegal, just higly frowned upon. From what my friends and dad have told be, if you get pulled over, and they spot a radar detector it is damn hard to get out of ticket. I however never get pulled over  Plus, it looks badass all hidden up there and no visible wires.

What? If you get pulled over for speeding you are not getting out of a ticket anyway.

If you are pulled over for broken tail pipe - why would a radar detecor make a difference?

How can something that is not illegal "be frowned upon"?

No wonder you floridians struggle to vote :P

Well - as long as you havent put the unit so far up in the rafters that any tint on the windshield intereferes with laser detection and such.

ViperASR

Nah, it detects the laser and radar and such no problem, I've actually messed around with it with my resourse officer at my old high school. And if you get pulled over for speeding, having a radar detector wont help your cause when you go "but officer, i never speed"

Oh, and to getting no tickets, I work under the fire/ocean rescue department for my county, so I have a badge, and so far it has worked both times ive gotten pulled over sense getting my captains position

And BTW my ticket count is 2, both in the mini-van

I like it! Very nice. awesome to see a porsche with that many miles, makes me smile.

can you tell me about your v1? how do you like it? I'm thinking of getting one. thanks!

ViperASR
11-16-2006, 11:20 PM
V1 is absolutly the way to go if you want to get a radar detector. They detect K KA X and laser bands. It works very well, great range and has different beeps for each band. Someone told me something about a V2 comming out or something, I'm not really sure. My family has 3 sports cars and 3 V1s. We live by these things religiously.

As for the miles, as of now she has 250,000 miles, and my dads 944S has something like 265,000 miles.

For an update on the car as of now, as I kind of forgot this topic existed, she threw the #3 rod about 4 months ago and spun the bearing. Myself and my father rebuilt the bottom end of the motor and so far *fingers crossed* it is still running. I also bought a Turbo rear valance for it to impove those looks just a little bit more.

supercarfreak
11-16-2006, 11:40 PM
cool, thanks!

it's awesome that you rebuilt the motor with your dad. you think about getting the turbo's front bumper? really love the look of it.

I like the look of the Turbo front end but not the price to convert it to the turbo front end...

Thanks for the complements on the car though guys, I really appreciate it, and so does the car :D
