Hahaha , well im not really into american cars , kinda not like them

Although I dont know anything about American Iron and not into it, I'll go with Ford. They brought us the GT40 and the Stang.

Bowtie for sure, SBC has got to be the most popular aftermarket motor in the world, that has show something.

Why are you so hyped up about the hemi. It's something I sincerely don't get. Almost all engines in todays day and age you hemi technology. So what is it now other then a marketing term?

well, no engine will ever be able to make a fully hemi combustion chamber because its copyrighted. Ford made the Cammer (semi-hemi) and there are many copies of it, but it is the best head design ever discovered, and its copyright will always give it a slight edge over anything else. Plus Ive just always been a mopar fan and the best mopar engine from the 60s was the hemi, so thats y its my fav.

Oh by the way, the new hemi is not a true hemi engine.

"the heads have true Hemi chambers with a few cubic centimeters of additional material on each side to channel the flow and get the proper burn characteristics"

Oh, not to be picky but its a patent not a copyright. It also has a time period limitation of 20 years, so technically thats not the reason why one has not been made. GM has made hemi engines for some race cars. In general the hemisphere setup is believed to be more expensive then other methods.

I'm a bowtie guy, although I have to give props to Ford for the the GT40

And as was stated before, small block chevy motors have aftermarket up the ass. Pushrod or not, for a few grand, it'll smoke alot of things.

I think hes talking more along the lines of the older HEMIs.

I personally believe nothing beats Ford. You got the awesome sounding 4.6 Litre stang, sounds better than any flowmaster. You got the Boss Mustangs with their 429s, and 302s, Mach 1s, Cobras, the awesome Ford GT, The Cool Ford Escort Cossies, and the SVT Focus's. Not to mention the greatest truck ever, the F-150, and its Lightning varient.

In this debate I always have a tough time choosing. When it comes to muscle cars I prefer mopars obviously, but there really havent been any decent mopars in years. I think the viper is garbage. the neon srt-10 is good for what it is, but its still a 4-banger. they really need to make an affordable performance car. I have been looking at late 80s stangs and maros/birds for my first car because you can get them dirt cheap, they are easily upgradeable, and they have relatively good performance. When it comes to Modern times I'd have to go with Ford, GM is close but I prefer fords for some reason. Ive really got to get off these boards, lol starting to contradict myself.

Sorry if it seemed like I was picking on you. Just trying to learn whats the big deal with the hemi. I kind of see the new hemi push as a marketing scheme, though I understand the significance of the original engine. Was just wondering if there was anything else too it.

Oh and to actually respond correctly to the thread. I really don't know. I hate fords that are post 90s(too unreliable). But I like 65 mustangs and 80s mustangs. However, can I forgive them for the horror of the mustang II(0-60 in 13 secs in a v 8). I know it was a gas crunch and all cars came down, but by and far the mustang was the worst.
I would take dodge over chevy. I would take pontiac over both though(discluding current lineup until the solstice, awd grand am, and gto come out).

Because the LS-6 puts down good power reliably while being fairly fuel efficient at cruise.

So, uh, this is just the '60s right?...

Mopar for sure, the Hemi was so successful on the race track it got banned. Plus, Mopar's have a much moreunique and organic sound. The tone is so much lower and throatier than a Ford or Dodge--it has the chest hair and the back air, not to mention a little ass hair.

I like all the Big three right now. Yes, am a little partial to Ford products. The Modular V-8's that Ford uses are pretty neat.
If I could not get a Mustang, then it would have to be either a Corvette or a Neon SRT-4.

Just one short word: DODGE :o
They brought us the viper and I'm talking of the first series. This beast bites so hard in the streets all over the world - no one can't stop it - except a trooper :) !

Have to go with Ford...not that the others are bad. It's just that the ubiquitous Mustang was my first experience of V8 power and after putting time into learning about Fords I'm too damn lazy to start the learning curve all over again with another marque. Corvette still is the best performance bang for buck...even Ford lovers have to admit that.

Gotta be a Mopar!!!
Mopar or no Car!! hahaha, but really, i love all the classic mopar muscle cars much more than any other muscle cars. they looked absolutely gorgeous (the 68 charger) and they had the engines to back it up.
chevelles look like hatchbacks to me, the camaros are nice, and the vettes are way over-touted.
ford torinos didnt look bad, but no ford muscle has ever caught my attention.after the first gen. stangs, they started to turn absolutely hideous. the fox-bodies were when stangs began to look a little bit better....

i agree, greywolf.... it puts out a decent amount of power, and torque. but it is not even designed similar, but w/fuel injection to the orginal.
my vote goes to Ford. although thier reliability in the.. ahem, 96-2000 was quite regretable, they have since attempted to set the blue oval as second do none (toyota in this case) in reliability. its in that department that NO cutbacks have been made, and the results are showing themselves now. a second reason ill go with Ford is they are the only manufacturer of an Affordable V8. i pray the T/A, and Camero will come back soon...

LOOK STOCK HEMIS ROCK. mind u this is coming from a HEMI fan. But honestly i do not think that there is a V8 thats sounds better than the 345hp Hemi. Ive drive a ZO6 and a C5 auto and even those cars are so fast and purely impressive cars the engines dont sound as good. Even though there are debates about whether or not the sounds are artifical it doesnt matter the combination of the intake howl and exhaust are original and irreplaceable. so my vote is MOPAR. i will be honest i was FORD FAN (i loved the 2001 mustang COBRA), but somethingabout the torque of the hemi    eh thats my biased opinion
