Post your favorite muscle cars of all time in this thread, heres mine:

My favorite muscle car of all time is the 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird. This car was massive, but It had enough power for 5.5 0-60 and a top speed of approx. 180mph (what other car in 1970 could do that from the factory??). Its basically 1970 roadrunner with an aerodynamic nose and wing attatched. It was designed for Nascars ovals and dominated until it was banned from competition in 1971. Its main competitor on the track was the 1970 Ford Torino Talledega. The Superbird did not sell well in dealerships because It was considered to be way too radical of a design for the street. They often sat on lots for very long periods of time before being sold at discount prices. Today superbirds are commonly sold for over $200,000 and original Hemi Superbirds are usually closer to $300,000. Heres some pics (note. this is a 440 model)

Well that car was built for one thing, and thats NASCAR racing. But i personally like the Plymouth HEMI Cuda over that. but my fav muscle of all time has to be the Pontiac Trans AM. 79 had to be the best year for it.

Hemi Orange, Panther Pink, or Sublime '70 AAR 'Cuda for beauty and a hint of elegance...

Hemi Orange or Plum Crazy '68 Hemi Roadrunner for pure, ugly, mean muscle...

Personally I like the '63 Stingray with the split window option. Something about the lines of that car that draws me to it. Much like how moths are drawn to lightbulbs....

Man, The Hemi is an unstoppable engine. Mopar claimed 425 HP, but that might have been with a 100 CFM 2bbl carb, christ. The only reason it had "425 HP" was so it could run in a lower class when drag racing. They did classes by HP per LB for drag racing out side of the NHRA (or whatever it was back then). I saw an article where a guy had dynoed a completely bone stock 2x4bbl carb set up. He could actually tie down the back of the charger it was in hard enough to not just spin his tires. He got a staggering 580 HP out of it. That is why Mopar was so dominant from the factory. They also way under "estimated" the 440's HP and tq. a 440 with a mild street cam upgrade and a pair of 4bbls with slicks, can lift the front end of a 69 GTX 2 ft off the ground. That is pretty crazy.

Mopar had the best muscle car engines. Chevy had some really good engines too. The 409 (my dad had one he had put in a 58 Impala, and it could haul), the 350 S/B is a good Pony Car engine, All the big blocks were pretty damn sweet! the 396 was a beast when it came out in the Malibu with 375 HP. The 427 was amazing, especially the L88. The L88s were one of the fastest engines stock, but i think the Hemi reacted better with major mods (cam, heads, and especially a blower)!

And all ford really had was the 428. The Shelby 427 used in the A/C Cobras doesnt count. The 428 was a pretty fast engine, but mustangs always got their shit kicked by Camaros.

I love the Olds with the 455's, I actually almost got one as my first car. There was an unbelieveable deal on a 68 cutlass 455, but by the time i went to see it, it was already sold. :( But i probably wouldve never been able to afford the gas on a carbureted big block anyway.

What is your description of American muscle? High hp and torque well the Ford GT-40 MK-II had it why can't you call it?

well Muscle cars were 2-door, 4 seater's with large V8's shoehorned under the hood that made huge loads of power and Torque.
the GT-40 was a homologation special Race Car that was slated into the Sports car category as in 2-door, 2-seater high HP car.
So the Corvette isn't really a Muscle Car either it's the "True American Sports Car"
