Hi guys and girls, new to this forum and like everyone else, I'll post
some pics of my car, enjoy!

As I'm on a business trip, I can't post a pic of my car with the service
booklet and stuff, but I'll start off with a pic of the keys (taken on the
day of deliver, in November of last year... I've had the car for just
over 7 months):
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/carkeyss.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/carkeys.jpg)

Here's my dealer fitting my license plates:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/thecars.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/thecar.jpg)

Engine shot:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0057s.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0057.jpg)

A rear shot:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0052s.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0052.jpg)

More pics (even some quicktime video clips) can be found in this
directory on my website for those who want to see some sprints
and stuff:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/

I'll keep it at that for now, if anyone wants to see some other pics
of different parts of the car, feel free to ask. I just need to take
that pic of the manual or website logo printout in the engine bay :)

Peace!

P.S. Sorry for the large pics, I need to resize 'em... just never
find the time to do it, shame on me =\

Hello.

Welcomt to JW... and what a way to start. The SLK55 is such a gorgeous car.... and it isn't just for girls.

I'm sure TT has seen this on the streets somewhere :P

I'm gonna take a look at the videos.... thanks a lot for posting too :fadein:

{EDIT} I like the pic in front of the hotel with the 575. I remember TT spotting that at the same place a few months back 8)

Shinigami

The Hotel? Yes, the Lausanne Palace, took those pics in December.

Didn't know TT was from Lausanne as I only came to this place today for the first time (my day of work coming to an end here in Italy, so I thought I'd check this place out after I found some Top Gear vids in eMule with JW ads on it).

I'll make sure to post the necessary pics of my ownership papers in the drivers seat or whatever it is that will please you guys ;)

Maybe if TT ever wants a ride in it, all he needs to do is send me an e-mail or PM (I guess he probably has access to my user profile and the e-mail address I registered into this place with ;) ). Maybe he's even seen me cruise around the streets in the SLK, who knows.

Oh, and hope you guys enjoyed the (admittedly, low quality) quicktime vids. I have some other shots of my car (next to my GF's silver colored Smart Roadster), I'll try to upload them as soon as I can.

And I'll make some thumbnails this time (once again, sorry for the file size  )

you couldn't wait for shin to post more pics, didn't you?
btw, very nice pics.
And how much time did you used for the pics? 1/30th? or you exposed by a whole second?

TT
06-08-2005, 04:56 PM
It was between 1 and 1 and a half second, can't remember the F since I let it on auto mode. Obviously with a tripod :D

BTW, forgot the last one:

lol, the cars a bug killer... that's what highway driving does (and it's a pain to clean too from all the bugs).

Anyway, here's the custom shot with my car manual, keys and the engine bay:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0016s.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/r171/Pict0016.jpg)

And whilst we're on the subject of cars, in the link below, you can find some more pics of my ride next to my GF's Smart Roadster (I'll post a custom shot of that one too at a later time, too tired after my trip to go down the garage and pull her car out for a photo shoot):

http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/felroadster9.jpg

And I used to have a Linarite blue Brabus modified SLK 230K. Alas, I sold it last year when I got my new car, so you'll just have to take my word for it... but you can find various misc pics of it in this directory on my website:
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/slk

And some pics of it (and other "riced" cars) that I took in Geneva last summer during a Tuning show (the pics of my old SLK are numbers 50 to 53):
http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/tuning

Sorry I don't really have time to make thumbnails of every single pic I'd like to show you, but I hope that it proves that I have a passion for cars and like to take photos of them ;)

Well, peace to all, I must go get some sleep now :p

Shinri, welcome to JW.

If you're a car enthusiast, you'll just love it here.

As much as I hated the previous SLK, I love this one. I drove the weaker version, but the car emediatly made a fan out of me!

And to own the 55 AMG.........good choice!

Don't worry about the large pics, we like them that way.... 8)

Enjoy your stay here at JW, where car enthusiasts are welcome 24/7.

@TT, did you guys go for a spin? If yes, how was it?

If no, why the hell not :?

TT
06-08-2005, 05:18 PM
I am pretty sure I saw already your old SLK, not sure when, maybe already after it found the new owner, sadly no pics.

komotar, no ride in it for me, Shin wanted to have some fun and I didn't want to force myself in the passenger seat :D and, call me shy, I was also a bit embarassed since I first know Shin some hours ago on the net, then all of a sudden we met in real life... I am still a bit old school I guess :bah:
But I hope to experience the AMG experience soon :D

Shinigami
06-08-2005, 05:19 PM
I'll take TT for a spin next time ;)

I was in a bit of a hurry to go out for a drive after eating (the very nutritious and healthy McDonalds burger) and didn't really think of asking him if he wanted to see the kick of my car. I just came back from a business trip and missed my car badly.

But there's always a second time when TT's got some free time.

*edit* maybe tomorrow between 5 and 6pm if he wants. I've met sooooo many people from BB's that I don't mind anymore ;)

TT
06-08-2005, 05:38 PM
Uhm, sounds interesting! And of course for such things you don't even have to ask if TT is up for it! At 5 pm I need to take my gf home, but if it's ok for you to meet at 17h30, just tell me where and I will be there :D

Shinri,
That's a beautiful car you have. I see in your signature that you had a Brabus. Are you planning any aesthetic or performance modifications to your new ride? I've only driven the SLK350, and that was already sweet, must be fun with that AMG motor at your service.

I go to sleep last night and when I wake up we have a new SLK55 owner, and TT has already taken pics and organised a ride in it.

I think I can take some credit for this as I saw one yesterday afternoon, so my pics of it must have sent a good luck charm to Switzerland. :P

Seriously though, that is an awesome car you have - its a really aggressive little beast and judging by the reviews a fun car to drive. :D

Congrats. :D

LOL guys, I don't think our GF's will find it very funny if we try to 'do something' (if you know what I mean), besides, I'm quite sure we both prefer girls over guys ;)

mayer: The Brabus SLK 230K was my old car. I sold it by now. My 55 is just a standard AMG. I liked my old car, but I do like the new one a bit more. If I had money, I'd bolt on a Kleemann Kompressor and have 596hp, but it would cost about 15k euro... :(

Ronin005: I have some claybars and I clean my car regularly (and wax it with Zaino type polish). But those bugs appeared after my last trip to Geneva (highway) and I didn't have time to clean it as I had to go on my business trip. I'll make sure to wash her today :)

And thank you for the warm welcome! I'm always ready and free to show my car to anyone who comes to the Lausanne area :) It's no problem.

Its great to see car owners like yourself who are willing to share with those who have a passion for these cars, but maybe can't afford them yet.

Any chance you will be making a stop in Australia with the SLK55? :P

LOL actually my gf is smelling something LOL! Yesterday evening I was sitting at the PC half asleep, suddently I jump out while typing a quick PM on JW and I shout "I have to go out, I will be right back!!"
This morning I informed her she will need to be quick and not a second late at 17 this evening because I need to be at the WTC at 17:30
Oh course she knows it's always about cars when something like that happens (and it's quite often LOL), but I am sure one day she will start thinking it is just a way to cover all the women of my life :D

dingo: Australia's a long way off, but you can always try to see if there's any 55 owners there who might be willing to show you the SLK (mbnz.org or mbworld.org has the largest number of owners who visit MB forums... but the 55 has only just been released in Australia, so owners are few and far apart).

dani_d_mas: you wouldn't be the first one. I've had one guy from the states and another from the UK come all the way to the Geneva car show and also pop in to see my old Brabus :)

TT: my GF will probably smell something fishy too when I tell her that I'm not coming home right after work, lol. but I've done it before, I went out eating Fondue with some other car nuts who live in Vaud (one of them I met on an MB forum and he recently traded his old SLK for a new 350). It's all in good fun, and I'm not sexy enough to reel in that many girls in the first place :D

Shinri you are just confirming you are a top noth guy! Lately I am knowing more and more friendly car owners (like André with the four Lamborghini in Saint-Prex, have you heard about him?), but most of the time it is not like that: supercars or nice cars owners in a general way are a bit jealous about their cars, sometimes they seem scared by car nuts and that's a pity! There are always car meeting to appreciate nice cars, but to meet a nice guy on the road and see he is actually proud when you ask to take pics and so on is always special!

Too bad it is not a superb day today and 17:30 / 18:00 would be a bit too late, because talking about André I realized it would be cool to take some pics of the SLK beside a Diablo or a Murcielago ;)

Shinigami
06-09-2005, 10:04 AM
No, I don't know Andre (I don't ming going to see his Lambo's =) ), but there is a gas station between Morges and Aubonne (somewhere close to the qualipet store) that has a few IMPRESSIVE lambo's sitting outside all the time *thumbs up*

I didn't take pictures of them yet... I really should, but everytime I go there (to Ikea or something) I forget to take my camera.

Maybe that's his Lambo's :D ?

TT
06-09-2005, 10:17 AM
Yes it's his pump station and he always has on show at least two of his cars ;) most of the time the other two are not too far ;)
If you want we can try to pay a visit in a while (dang I need to leave in a while ;)), but I fear the road on the lake is a bit busy at such time.

I have pics of the 4 of them obviously, plenty of them :D

http://img8.echo.cx/img8/7076/lamborghinimurcielago5708vf.th.jpg (http://img8.echo.cx/my.php?image=lamborghinimurcielago5708vf.jpg) http://img8.echo.cx/img8/1496/lamborghinidiablo6566md.th.jpg (http://img8.echo.cx/my.php?image=lamborghinidiablo6566md.jpg) http://img8.echo.cx/img8/7364/lamborghinidiablo6814wy.th.jpg (http://img8.echo.cx/my.php?image=lamborghinidiablo6814wy.jpg)

BTW about Lambo, do you know there is a pretty big Lambo meeting this weekend? Saturday in Gstaad (I'll be there) and Sunday they will visit La Gruyère's village and castle ;) (I will be there :D)

Shinigami
06-09-2005, 10:34 AM
Gstaad and Gruyere? Gruyere village is a bit hard to reach with a Lambo because the car is so low ;) I was there to visit the fantastic Geiger museum *thumbs up*

So those Lambo's are his then? Does he need someone to drive his Lambo's to the meeting ;) lol, but my GF was also very impressed with these Lambo's, she's a car nut too (which is really cool), if you ever wanna go meet this guy, I definitely need to bring her along as she would love to take a closer look at the Lambo's. She's a big Aston Martin fan as you can see from the picture below when we went to test drive a Vanquish =) (click the pic for a larger picture).

http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/vanquish/6.jpg (http://www.catgirlsparadise.com/images/vanquish/7.jpg)

supercars or nice cars owners in a general way are a bit jealous about their cars, sometimes they seem scared by car nuts and that's a pity!
Yes, I agree. Sometimes they're like this, but there's also a lot of people who are jealous because of these people and tend to be agressive towards them, so the supercar owners are afraid... I've had some (chavs / racaille) yell at me "you're poor man!" like to insult me. Well, I don't really mind, I'm not rich, I just spend too much of my income on my passion -> cars. But situations like this sometimes leave you worrying that if you park your car close to where this kinda guy was, they will go and scratch our paint or something. Horrible thing to do :(

But if someone shows an interest in my car, I will show them the car, which reminds me of a funny time when I drove to the Bussigny Audi dealer to check out some cars with my GF (we like to go test drive cars on weekends), and an Audi dealer came up to me and asked if the 55 was my car. Then he asked if he could sit in it and so on. So I behaved like a dealer myself and showed him all the good points of the 55 :D When we left, he just stood there looking back at my car... made me smile a bit :)

TT
06-09-2005, 10:50 AM
Hehe, I guess at La Gruyère the cars will be parked in one of the bottom areas, if everything goes well there should be a big amount of Lambo, so if you can take your girl there, I am sure she will enjoy. Saturday all the cars will be at the Saanen airstrip in the morning and then they will go for a drive ;)
Yes one day I'd like to help Andre take his cars for a spin, but usually he is happy enough to take just the one he can drive himself and let the others home :D
Anyway you can go at his petrol station whenever you want, you will basically always find him and he has nothing against ppl drooling over his cars :D

As for the supercars owners' fear matter, there is another annoying thing: car nuts with no respect or little respect. I see so many ppl always trying to touch nice cars, pop the doors open, look inside the cabin, take pictures while laying on the bonnet and more! I NEVER touch a car, NEVER! I know it is nice to appreciate it from upclose, but well, if it isn't mine, I prefer to stay away, take my pics and enjoy it withouth risking to scratch or whatever.

On a side note, congrats, you have a very fine lady! And the fact she loves nice cars is great! Sadly whenever I am out on a mission, I need to let mine home since she doesn't really give a fuck :D

Ok I am off, it's time to take her home, hoping she won't be late, so I won't be late for our "rendez-vous" :P

I agree completely, they ruin it for us car nuts who actually have some respect and keep our distance. :D

I often am so concerned about taking pics that I 'forget' to actually have a closer look at the car.... :D

Shinigami
06-09-2005, 11:22 AM
Yeah, people touching a car tick me off too...

Remember all the finger prints on my door? And last weekend I drove to a night club in GVA and the 'chauffeurs' drove my car right up to the door (I guess at this point I should put my 'pimp hat' on), and then one of them proceeds to lean against my car. ARGH >_<

No scratches tho', so I guess I need to thank MB and their new nano-paint.

Also, last weekend, I went over to the Bussigny media markt to buy a DVD, and they had a few nice cars (Porsche Turbo 3 and Viper SRT-10) on display. And I was like, wow! Then suddenly these 4 (very skimpy dressed) chicks come up to 'pose' by the cars. Sorry, I mean ON TOP OF the cars. And they didn't do just this, they began washing the cars with dirty towels and sponges, and all the while I was watching at the show with horror in my eyes, the only thing going on through my head was "those poor, poor cars and their paint!!!". They were full of scratches swirls at the end of the whole deal.

Ok, so the chicks might have been hot, plus the 'washing' scenario might have been seen as a sexy affair with wet swimsuits and so on, but I just couldn't think of the... hmmm, bewbies when watching the carnage going on :\

I think sometimes I have my priorities the wrong way around

But TT forgets one thing, his car can seat 4 or 5, mine can only take two (well, maybe three if you get two chicks to squeeze on top).

Hope ya enjoyed the ride, can't wait to see the pics you took because my photographic skills are waaaaay basic and your have more quality =)

Shinri, nice to see another dedicated car nut to arrive at JW. You'll defenitely like it around here. Great to hear your willing to share your passion with other petrol heads. I bet TT had an awesome ride.

Great ride you have, lovely sounding engine :D

As for the supercars owners' fear matter, there is another annoying thing: car nuts with no respect or little respect. I see so many ppl always trying to touch nice cars, pop the doors open, look inside the cabin, take pictures while laying on the bonnet and more! I NEVER touch a car, NEVER! I know it is nice to appreciate it from upclose, but well, if it isn't mine, I prefer to stay away, take my pics and enjoy it withouth risking to scratch or whatever.

I agree completely, they ruin it for us car nuts who actually have some respect and keep our distance. :D

I agree for 200%. It's sometomes so aweful to see some people not respecting cars. I also never touch a car that isn't mine unless I have to get into it :D

Who knows... lol

My friend with an M3 did tell me that after experiencing my car, he preferred it over his E46. So I guess the SLK is not all that bad a car. But to each their own, opinions vary too much between humans that it's ridiculous to begin fighting about it ;)

You definitely can add the SLK to my birthday presents list :D

I am a BMW fan, true, but first of all I love cars, period! For a while in the past I thought AMG cars are just a big engine with a car around it. Well, wrong :D the SLK seems such a great package! In the passenger seat you are constantly abused and pressed hard against it! Let's say from 0 to 100 kmh you can't really tell if there is a difference with a Modena or even a Murcielago actually. Yes the sound, but that's all, the shove is the same if took in isolation IMO! It's really that good!
As for the experience in the other seat, well, the only other sportcar I drove so far is my uncle's 996 C4, it's fast and of course behind it's wheel I feel a bit more at ease since it's still a car owned by a family member and not just a VERY generous owner, but still, the SLK feels better in every way! The 996 sound sadly is probably the worse a 911 ever had, much improved with the 997 luckily, steering feel, gearchanges (a tiptronic) or performance seems definitely better on the Merc!
The sound  you gotta love it! If you won't there must be something wrong in your ears!

A will never be able to thank Shinri enough! I am starting to sound boring I bet, but when you meet a person that nice, you just have to be thankfull!
I am so happy you found out about JW dude! I hope you will stay around because members like you are valuable! And I am not talking about possible rides only :D a nice person is a nice person, period :D

As for the pics, as you might have guessed, I am not that kind of guy who shoot 100 pics every 5 minutes, so there aren't many, but I hope you will like them, and whenever you find a good location and want some pics to be taken, you PM or SMS me and I will be up for it :D

Beautiful!!!! Love AMG's. I had an opportunity to drive the SLK 55 at the AMG Challenge back in March in Las Vegas. That car is very nimble and easy to whip around the track. Enjoy and be careful!!!

Thanks

I'll try to be careful, even if it is hard to resist not pushing the car to the limits. Unfortunately today, some chick in a black Seat nearly rammed into while she changed lanes NEXT to me on the highway WITHOUT using the blinkers...

I was pi$$ed, and I think she got embarrassed/scared, as she began to drive real fast. Got flashed 150 on a radar (in an 80 zone). Too bad for her... honestly, she deserved it, I have no respect for people who don't know how to use their blinkers. Absolutely no respect. If you change lanes, you must use your blinkers. And if you do it, you always check if there's a car next to you (even in your blind spot). shame... shame...

she probably won't be driving for a while...

But I do understand Shinri's point of view, I am DISGUSTED by people who don't use their turning signals the proper way or don't use them at all.

TT: rofl, yeah, I can be like that. Doesn't mean I don't (ab)use my car, but some things do tick me off a bit ;)

haha, I wouldn't wanna know it'd be like if I got a REAL supercar :p

which reminds me, I was at the Ferrari dealer in Lausanne, and they said they'd change my 55 for this 360 they had in the showroom, like right away. I was like "really?". But apparently the 360 came from a car 'loaner' place, and when I looked at the front bumper and front lights, it seemed like the bumper had been resprayed. The black rubber around the head lights had red paint on them and it just didn't seem to fit in just right. I wonder if the car had been in a small fender bender?

The ferrari dealer denied it all, but... it just got me wondering.

I wouldn't wanna buy a Ferrari that had been in an accident :\

Still, pretty car, one of my favorite :)

sorry to bring up this old topic
but i will have my own thread in a couple of weeks time, since i dont have pictures

anywho.. myfriend picked up slk55amg couple of days ago
i spent some time driving it.. here are some of my impression

the exterior---even thought it is more aggresive lokoing thatn the 350..but still it is abit girly looking to me

interior---the leather is nice, and the swade is nice,, but some part of the interior feels cheap, for example the upper dash boards

now.. here are the driving impression... the car is very compact, and the mirror is really bothering me.. is blocking my view.... with the top up, is hard to see the blind spot..

the acceration seems decent..i dunno.. the car still break in.. but i did WOT till 4500RPM

the brakes are just have the most terrible feel.. is on and offf.... u put almost the same pressure, it will slow down slowly at first,, and then suddenly it bit ur ass off.. it suddenly stops really fast.... really bad feel to it

the 7 speed auto transmiison now---it is not as smooth as i thoguht it would be...afterall benz pretty much only make auto transmission.. there are 3 modes.. Comfort, Standard, and manual.... standard is not that smooth IMO.... manual shifteing speed is decent for a auto transmiison,, adn most of the time it will blip throttle for u... but shifting speed is still no where need the SMG

now the best part is the handling.. this car really handle good, and cornering hard u are still really flat.. not much body rolling if at all

overall a good car...i will put some pix up in a couple of weeks..

You said the brakes are either on or off? I don't get that feeling with my car. I can gently brake the car if I just slightly push the brake pedal back, and I have complete control of how much braking pressure I want to set. Maybe I'm just used to it...

What you might have been experiencing is just the standard MB brake pedal being set way forward compared to the acceleration pedal, and when you switched from one pedal to the other, you brought your foot down too quickly. I used to do this a bit in the beginning resulting in what I thought was very rough deceleration.

Obviously shifting is not SMG like since it's a pure automatic, not a clutches manual. So you shouldn't have expected as much, and S mode is jumpier since it will try to keep revs high as much as possible. However, the MB automatic gearbox takes a few days to learn the drivers driving habit, which means that once it's gotten accustomed to the way you drive it, it adapts itself to provide power and comfort for that type of driving that the owner has forced upon it. You'd have to drive the car a few hours everyday for a few days to see the difference. Usually by the third day you find the car has moved into a comfort-zone territory.

Sometimes I want to drive mine more agressively, so I do frequent hard accelerations revving it at 3-4k rpm on 2nd, 3rd and 4th, which in the end means that the car begins to turn into a more responsive ride (throttle wise).

You really need to lower that top if you want to experience the convertible feel, and when you do that, you lose any problems associated with rear visibility. But I agree visibility is not as good as in a standard car. The rear window is even smaller then in the previous SLK, but I still find that the view on the rear is better then in a Miata, S2000 or Z4 (using the cloth tops), can't expect too much from a convertible, unless you then add on the optional hardtop.

As far as 'girly' goes, I seem to have experienced quite the contrary when I've spoken with people either in real-life or on forums. The AMG has a definitely more masculine look according to 95% of the people I've spoken with. But that's all opinions, and most people who did consider it girly, simply said so because it's an SLK, and the old SLK was quite feminine (not that it bothered me at all, I got plenty of chicks coming up to when I drove that car, because they liked how it looked).

btw: you can get a full leather interior for the SLK which fixes the dash issue you talked about, but at over $10k, it's not really worth it IMO... The new 030 performance package even adds carbon fiber to the interior. But I'm not too fond of that.

the brake feel is not wehre the pedal is position.. is just that.. is kind of hard to brake smooth.. it will suddenly brake harder.. maybe all the amgs are like that. brake by wire technology? from what i heard, there wont be braek by wire in the next generation of benz

i like the exhaust sound.. only if it was a bit louder..^^

yup.. the visibiliy is alot better when the tops is down.. actually excellent,, easy to see blind spot and stuff

hmmm, maybe we just have a different conception of smoothness. A 350 brakes a lot less hard, simply because the brakes are nowhere near as powerful as in the AMG, where they indeed are quite good at stopping the car. But it could also be a question of practice and habit.

I know I'm able to bring the car to a gentle stop, but mileage may vary. Foot angle, the position you push the brake pedal to, and so on can all affect how greatly the car decided to decelerate. I personally feel that there is no 'sudden' jump in brake feel when pushing down on the pedal at a steady rate. Perhaps your friend has overinflated tires, or needs to realign/redjust the brakes. Or perhaps they're just too new... Do they squeal at all when gently braking? All AMG's seem to do this for the first few hundred or thousand kilometers when they're still new... But then it settles down. A few good emergency stops should grind those brakes down to evenness (and possibly get rid of the sudden jerky braking as well).

If he can, maybe he should test drive someone elses 55 just to see if it's normal (there's plenty of 55 owners on the forum link I mentioned above). But it could also be normal and just your perception of the stopping power :)
