Scott Speed gets third seat!

I know to many of you, this may not be of great intrest. But Scott Speed has now been officially confirmed as the friday driver for Red Bull Racing during the Canadian, and US Grand Prix's. I am excited to have an american back in F1 even if it's only a practice driver.

Man, that is awesome!!! Hope he gets a Sunday ride with Red Bull, because they seem to have verry nice cars and engeneering behind them. Can't wait to see the Friday practice, with Speed behind the wheel. :fadein:

Is it just me or is this a sign that even the team were rather underwhelmed by Tonio Liuzzi? Not only taken out of the races (as had been planned) but also dropped from the test role. It seems strange to me, he was supposed to be their little Golden boy, the guy who would blow Kliens socks off. :?:

I have been hearing that Speed may be getting this testing spot for probably over a month now. It will serve as good exposure for the red bull team as well as F1 for North America. Unless Speed does extremly well I would expect to see Luizzi back in the car after the North American swing. I wouldn't look into too deeply.

I guess Red Bull have done a lot of unorthodox things this year, so far they seem to have paid off, lets hope that they continue to make the right calls.

Andretti, wasnt a joke. he did well, and was on a good team. Speed, will be lucky to accomplish 1/4 of what Andretti did.

i wish Speed all the luck

he was over rated and only got 7 points, mostly because almost half of the drivers didn't finish the races, and he car really won it for him (not that the ford engine wasn't "good") - he wasn't a good crossover, those right hand turns really messed with his head :D

Maybe....but those "right hand turns" shouldn't have been a problem since he was in CART rather than IRL (it was pre-split anyway) so he was used to racing on road courses...they even use the same Montreal GP track as F1.

ANdretti wasnt bad, he drove some prototypes and didnt do too bad in that.
