My father received a letter that says he won a vast amount of money (415.810 euro's) but before he receives the money he has to pay 10% of the prize money to some company.
The second I saw the letter I knew it was fake and a scam, but when I did some google research I found out that this had happend in the past, using all sorts of way to scam ppl and let them believe they won something.
This was the title of the letter: El Gordo Spanish Sweepstake lottery Company, or Casa De La Primitiva and a fake spanish adress.
Here are a couple of links with very useful information and reports about how (mostly Nigerian gang) operates.

They are many links, just type in the title, the content in those letter are 90% the same as in the one we received.
They also tend to replicate stamps and use real company names in order to make their scam look real.
So watch out and report to the police, I'm going tomorrow to report it to the police, hope they catch those BASTARDS :x
(edit) Does anybody have this shit happend to them too?
1st - this is about the oldest news in the modern world.. ;)
2nd - Sorry to say, but anyone who is gullible enough to even read past the first line and not rip up the letter and throw it away is a fucking moron.
Period.
I wouldn't even take the time to "warn" people about the scam - if they are dumb enough to respond to it they deserve to lose everything they own.

^^^yeah I know it was an old thing happening, but there are a lot of ppl that don't know.
And yeah you're wright, anyone dumb enough to do this shit must not be very smart and would be seriously lacking common sense.
But I don't agree with the last part, trying to be as helpfull as I can :D
Anyway, besides a warning to the less intelligent amongst us, I posted this so if ppl would receive these lettres they should go to the authorities so they can follow up on this and catch those sleezbags. I've read that a lot of ppl just throw them away

well said :)
There has been so much media coverage of scams that these bastards should be out of business by now. But i guess people only choose to pay attention to something once it happens to them... instead of learning from the mistakes of others.
@SPEEDKILLAR:
I doubt there's any chance of catching them. A lot of these scam punks are situated in Africa, which means they're almost impossible to get to i'm afraid :| You should report the scam nonetheless.

I agree with that, and I am sure going to report it. At least even if they don't get catch them its nice to see the statistics and how many persons got owned
^^^ Have you heard of this really old scam where the person to be scammed actually scammed the scammer
I'm trying to remember what it was about. It involved a kid from England i think, a fake pay pal transaction and a cardboard laptop. Do you remember the website ?

"I have to tell you that I did get some very exciting news recently, and I don't know if I should really tell you exactly what it is because it's really not a definite thing yet. Well, I will tell you what I know so far. According to the information that I have in the envelope that I've received, it seems that I may have already won some very valuable prizes. Well, thank you, thank you very much, well thank you. It's very nice to hear that. But, in all honesty, I have to say, I didn't even know I was in this thing. But, according to the readout, it looks like I am among the top people that they are considering."
