View Full Version : A look into the REAL cost of owning Ferrari...
Not sure if this website is already known to the F-Carfans at JW...
http://ferrari.stevejenkins.com/
It is a very interesting read, with some cool PDF's of brochures and service manulas etc- as well an accurate listing of the lifetime costs of owning a 328, 348, 355, 512 and an F40.
Nice to see the orginal window stickers and bill's of sale and receipts etc.

I love entry number five for the 328:
Zipper on trunk luggage cover
had come undone. Cover was
removed, zipper was
disassembled, repaired, and
cover was replaced................. $68.
The guy actually decided that such a thing warranted a repair, drove his car in for this service, told a rep about it, and they fixed it. For $68. Man, some things you just gotta do for yourself, to keep some elements of manhood in ya.

interesting info. Thanks RC :D
*note* the tech that did the head recondition on the F40 had a healthy paycheck. If you figure the tech makes a little less than 1/3 the shop labor rate (depending on experience), i;m guessing on the hours flagged for the job here, but i'd say its a safe bet he made a little over $2,000 on that job alone

The volume of Ferrari's vs BMW's doesn't exactly scream stable income

Meh, major, minor, still an assload of money for a tuneup.
Usually, $15k in work means send it to the scrapyard, I'm getting a new car.

Trust me ferrari techs pull in at least 50-70 grand a year. Hell most exotic or luxury cars have absorbenent labor costs, though not quite as high as ferrari. I know for a fact mercedes rates are outlandish.

The majority of experienced BMW techs in larger dealerships have 6 figure incomes

Cars themselves dont provide the best living unless your a CEO or other executive.
*6 figures is great, but some of us have really big goals.
