i own an '85 325e... just clicked over 402,000kms on the original engine... mileage isn't a big deal for the engine if its well maintained.

Kind of true, but when you buy a car that has almost 200k km its not exactly a bargain..

E30 in general are great cars, take someone to check it out, someone who know BMW and E30 very good. I'd rather pay them and take a good car than later be pissed  As mrzonda said and from what I heard if it have been taken care of it it survive alot.

most of these engines can easily run much more than 200 thousand km, but this depends on how the owner takes care of his car... IF he changes the oil when he should, IF he lets the engine heat before floring it, IF he does the scheduled maintenances, and many others IF that we are tired to know

Phobo, any chance to know how the owner of this BMW cared for his car? usally the exterior and interior conservation reflect the condition of the engine...

If you are looking for e30 then choose between 318is or 325i. Forget others.318is has some expensive parts but otherwise very nice 4cyl engine and the 325i is powerful and well lasting. And also forget the 100k-150k. You are buying a car, not the distance the car has coverd. If well taken care of, then 300k is not a problem.
