^Yes it was, although a Mercedes fan myselft this margin is way too big, maybe the viper driver missed a gear or something!!I'm pretty sure sl65 will beat this viper but not with that margin!!!

But still, the SL65 is a beast. A Mercedes that makes little children cry. :)
The Viper driver certainly did some shit, anyways i wanted the Merc to win :D

If you watch the vid closely you see that the Viper had a shit load of tire spin. If the driver wasn't so bad, it'd be alot closer.

To the best of my understanding, an SL 65 does mid 11s, whereas the new Viper is in the mid 12s (i.e. around 1 s apart)... What were you expecting?
Another thing Viper fans might want to consider before asking for a rematch is that the transmission is the only thing limiting peak torque on the 65 to 738 lb-ft (1000 Nm). Without this limitation, the 65 would produce approx. 900 lb-ft :!:

i would pick the Viper any day :-D... Driver involvment
the viper in stock form can post 11.7's in the quarter, as can the SL 65 amg... the difference is about 100 hp/ 200 ft. lbs+... so seeing the AMG winning isnt a suprise with all those driver aids, and an automatic trans...
The Viper had some sort of mishap but even if he got a whole shoot with perfect gear changes th MB had it in the bag.

Well, and on the SL65, the only thing you have to do is point and shoot. I think that I could repeat those 1/4 mile times with a little practice. I'd kill myself in the Viper though. :)

Those driver aids want really help you in a drag race, now would it
and with the auto you have in fact less power at the wheels, could you imagine if it was a manual

Doesn't the SL65 have so much torque (~700?) that it just burns out without the driver being careful? If true then there's some skill involved with the launch. Amazing how he just coasted on through.

Well, the SL65 has enough computerpower to run half the internet, so it shouldn't be that hard to repeat that result. :)
Which tyre do you guys reckon the merc driver was using? What if they were drag slicks?
I think the viper driver bogged down on his start. Maybe he was afraid of too much wheel spin. In the end it was the ease with wich you can do those starts that won the day.
