I'm not very much into the SL range, so the MB SL50K AMG might be normal, but I've never seen one before. I thought the SL55 was the only AMG SL. Googling a bit I found the Kleeman SL 50K, but not a SL 50K AMG. Does anyone know the story?

I know it's just details, but I'm very good at wondering about details :)

Maybe the owner just added the badge of AMG and the the SL50K thing.. Did the car have any unnormal looks to it .. I mean dose it look like an AMG or a normal SL500 or some other bodykit on it ?

What bodystyle SL was it? I think the older R129 style had a SL50 AMG very limited though, and im sure most went to the middle east.

I just got a quick look, but the styling was more or less like a standard SL500 or SL55 amg. I don't know the visual difference. It had a V8 badge on the side, and double exhaust pipes on both sides. There are four reasons why I don't think it's a Kleemann: the V8 badge on the side, the AMG badge on the boot, not that falshy rims (I didn't notice the rims, so I gues they were standard or AMG or something) and the doors opened normally.

The looks I remember: A silver new SL with a more or less normal bodykit and normal rims. There were V8 badges on the sides, SL50K badge on the left side of the boot, and a AMG badge on the right side of the boot.

I suspect that someone has fooled around with the badges...

Well if the guy is wealthy then it might have a supercharger from kleemann if not then it's only a badge...

I also suppose itīs only the different batch. The other details you described (V8 Kompressor batch on both sides, 4 exhausts) are typical for an standard SL55 AMG.

Yup, what they said. Only Kleemann adds the K at the end of the 'numbering', and there is a practice (in some countries) where the MB dealer will add the AMG badge free of charge if the owner purchases stuff like the AMG rims.

I find it VERY unusual that someone would 'down badge' a 55 to a 50... too much hassle in my honest opinion. I think what you might have seen is a Kleemann tuned 500, with Kleemann quad exhaust (do you remember how the exhaust looked like? Kleemann, Brabus, etc have very different exhausts from the AMG ones) and often an engine tuner will add their own exhaust to help the 'flow' of the engine.

Anyway, badges are just badges, so unless you take a look into the engine bay, we may never know the full truth ;)

likewise

I once saw a Ford Fiesta 3.1GL . It certainly wasnt accelerating like it had the 3100 Capri engine in it, thus I assume that the badge was changed from 1.3GL to 3.1GL
