The game is ok. It is Fast n Furious through and through... but the plus side is it's in the NFS franchise wrapper, so it is somewhat more realistic than most Ricer games.

The online option is pretty cool. Had a couple races - won them ;)

When you hit the nitrous everything gets blurred like you are a ricer movie... LOL - I am sure many folks believe that is what actually happens when you hit the NAWZ.... :D

The street Drag race is typical ricer - it's way longer than a 1/4 mile - thats how yo get to shift 65 times.. :)

That game really let me down, when the full version comes out there better be a Mustang in it. ITs way too riced out right now. I think ill take Fast and Furious game atleast that has domestics in it besides the focus.

hahaha ruuuude

sif it was made in australia....like just a car or 2 like they do every nfs. even then it's probably a yank that makes the falcon and commodore and chucks it in the game

Just played the demo... and again such a big dissapointement :(

I was hoping for a worthy succes to need for speed porsche because I absolutely love that game. Played it out 3 times and tried to collect every car in the database :D I think I had about 70 in my garage when I stopped playing the last time... damn why can't they make something like this again.

The drag racing is kinda fun but the cirquit laps are ridiculous because the driving simulation is so crapy :(

I took the time to update my "Driving Simulation" collection today - after the crap that is NFS:Underground.

There are quite a few awesome independent simulations out there now.

Racer is ok - but the worlds friction is to low - so skids and spins last forever. But the detail is unbelievable.

NetKar is another one-man simulation that puts the commercial crap to shame.

Live for Speed is quite fantastic.

The superdetail car and track additions for Grand prix legends are out of this world.

The Mini-racing mod for F1-2002 is another really good bit of work.

I was pleased to see that some guys have managed to develop the Viper Racing engine to new heights and made some add-on cars and tracks.

Head over to http://www.racesimcentral.com/ to see what the big boys are playing with - after you have deleted NFS;Underpowered from your harddrive. ;)

I thought it was an improvement over NFS:HP2 (whose controls sucked huge donkey balls on PC) but is nowhere near as refined as PU.

The graphics are reasonable, if not ground breaking. On my radeon there were some strange texture errors; hard to tell if it's driver related or if it was just a bug in the demo. Hopefully it will get smoothed out for final release. Compared to Porsche Unleashed they look tacky however (I still think that PU was amazingly successful at doing a lot with a little in terms of system requirements).

Gameplay is good as it almost always is with NFS. They get the sensation of speed better than just about anything other than F Zero. It's definitely an arcade style drive, with the cars essentially glued to the road. The series of tight turns at the beginning of the demo race is pretty fun because of this though. Also, no stupid exploding barrels or BS cops who run you off the road with one little tap (I did not like HPS2 hah).

One major detractor is the sound. For some reason they never seem to have good engine noise in the NFS games, which is a bit of a downer. Having been in a 350Z, I know that it definitely does not sound like the in game car, nor can I imagine a tuned VQ ever sounding like that (sorta food processor crossed with weed whacker). Also, when you drop off the gas the engine seems to hold revs and then suddenly just drop off. Kind of unnatural if you ask me.

Finally the feel of the game is kinda meh to me. I know we're all supposed to start wildly humping any car that's been tuned, but I wish they had all the licensed goodness (F50, McLaren F1, CLK GT-R) from HP2. Driving a tuned 350 is not nearly as special as a limited run Ferrari.

Still, if you take it as just an arcade racer--maybe a toned down F Zero--it's not too bad. Might grab this one if reviews are ok.
