Viva Italia at TT-circuit Assen

First of all, sorry for the quality of the pics. The battery of the camera is rather dodgy, so I had to take pictures while looking through the lense (or whatever it's called) in order to save energy. Somehow the camera has a deviation to the left, so often the subject is not in the middle of the picture. I also had to take pics quickly, before it went dead again. I didn't edit much, because I don't have the time. Sorry.

Monday I went to the TT-circuit of Assen, the Netherlands to visit an Italian car festival called Viva Italia. On the road leading to the track officials were controlling the traffic. All Italian cars were directed towards the paddock entrance, whether they had a paddock pass or not. We, my dad and I, were in my mom's Fiat Uno, so the guy sent us straight ahead at the junction. As a result we found ourselves in a tiny traffic jam a few hundred meters down the road, surrounded by Ferraris, Lambos, all sorts of other Italian cars and, strangely, a Noble. :D The Ferraris jumped the queue, I opened up a gap, to conveniently accomodate an F430. :wink: Oh yes, it looks like a good day indeed!

As we didn't feel like luring too many people away from the exotics by putting the Uno on display, we parked just outside the paddock. I'm glad we did, because walking through tunnels can be lots of fun. Especially when the cars going through it, allow a gap to open up in front of them and then floor it, to close the gap again. :twisted:

In the paddock were lots of fantastic cars. Many Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos, Fiats, Lancias, De Tomasos and even a couple of Isos. I'm not going to comment on all pics, because I don't have a lot of time.

Unfortunately I couldn't take too many pics because of the battery. Not even of the cars on display in the paddock, but also of the cars on track I have only these three pics of the cars in the pitlane. In between the Ferrari and the Lamborghini demorun there had been a short but fierce shower, so the track was wet when the Lamborghinis entered. Amazingly, the Lambo group put a lot more effort into hammering their cars around the track. There was a downside to this though, one Diablo owner let the rear get away from him on the approach of the first corner, slid into the grass and damaged the left front end. A sad sight...

This was the suprise of the day, a 512 BB/LM. Just finished at Hietbrink's shop and already on its first outing. This thing sounds brutal! And goes like stink too! I had a grin from ear to ear when it was out there. :D

Looks like you had a damned good day. Although you're battery was low, the pics look fine!

The official failed the test, with that Noble. Guess he was fired immediately :P

Marvellous! I especially liked the "strange" ones like the Merak or the Khamsin! As expected, almost nobody is paying attention to them, while the Gallardo or Murci are overcrowded with people :bah:

Stunning event!! There are really loads of italian exotics. Great they deviated you and the Uno with the other Italians to the paddock. Must have been awesome to walk through the tunnel with all those hungry horses shouting at you :D

I love the F430, Shamal, 512BB and 512BB/LM. Too bad your digicam fucked up.

Nice pics:) The 512BB/LM looks stunning, so does the DeTomaso, and the Countach.
I wanted to go, but I heard about the event on Sunday evening... A little too late for me to plan a 300 km trip...

I was there too! Got video... I didn't think it was that good :|
The weather sucked, and 2 years ago there were WAAY more cars at that event!
