lol...I saw this on entensity.net.

I thought it was really good, I got a good laugh out of it. Gosh, if I owned some of those goats...I think I would be always be outside trying to get them to faith and fall over. lol

excitement and scaring them is the way to go!

oh man thats fucking funny, though a bit fucked up to be scaring them on purpose. think thier muscles would take a tole after a while of all that tensing up.
but cant this also be considered maybe something like a defense mechanism??
i kinda was thinking the same thing ronin, but i dint see how its defensive at all lol, i mean its not like they fall over and stay that way or stay still to play dead for a long period of time the just kinda fall over and get back up. certainly seems odd whatever it is. :lol:

You're absolutely correct!

I did a project on these little guys some years back. It's the same way you're supposed to "play dead" if being attacked by some species of bear.

It's instinct for these goats to fall over and "play dead" when frightened in an attempt to make their attacker think that they're already dead and not worth killing again.

Of course this does present somewhat of a problem for the goat if the predator is some kind of scavenger, in which case they will get eaten even if they're dead, or pretending to be anyway.

Point being...you're right, it's a "play dead" defense.
