Well, the truth is that a majority of the German population still consists of racist, xenofobic motherfuckers.

i think alot of people associate Germany with WW2. Especially since the WorldWars take up alot of world history classes focus.

i don't think there are too many people who will say beer, BMW, VW, Audi or sauerkraut before they say WW2

A recent survey showed that when British 10- to 16-year olds were asked what they associated Germany with, 78 per cent said the Second World War, and 50 per cent mentioned Hitler. Youthful British ignorance of Germany and its past was demonstrated by the photographs published earlier this year, showing Prince Harry at a fancy dress party in Nazi uniform.

pretty absurd. unfortunately germany does have a pretty shameful history but theres no need for ignorant little british tykes to harbor agression towards a group of people based on prejuduces

its pretty ignorant for you to talk shit about british kids based on some spun BS written by a journalist but there you go, shit happens.

show me proof please? since if you mention the word nazi you go to jail, and then the secret police kill you in prison and call it a suicide.

also if you look at the population by age, most of the people living there couldn't of been born during nazi power.

I guess it isn't just the brits that are ignorant

Well there's a BIG difference between former West and East germany...in former East, there's still alot of racism, like it or not. In former West its much less...

BTW i think germany is a great country, i like being there alot. And what that ambassador said is true, there's no country in the world as concious of its own (negative) past as germany

Typical ... When people talk about Germany they immediately think about the terrible world wars. Now, I don't want to critic someone here. It is the same with me, but when you visit Germany nowadays you will come into contact with a whole different generation of Germans, so judging these people for something that happened more than 50 years ago is not right. I know a group of Germans and it are each very likeable blokes.
Every country has its war history and scandals; Belgium, U.k., USA .... . But I admit, I don't want to minimize the WW's. I geuss that lots of us have family members who experienced those horrible and unhuman periode.

If you ask me to name a difference between Germany and Britain then I say that: If you consider a German as a car freak that is nothing compared to an Englishman
