Just grabbed it and watched it, what a excellant car. The standard M3 is amazing but the CSL takes it to a new level. I think between the gt3 and the csl in the dry, the csl would win, by a hair at that.
And regarding the stig, is it really a new stig or are they just trying to make seem like the old stig is gone?

Sweet ass car, not necessarily a fan of the normal M3 but this one is SICK.
Listen to that thing!!, but i wish BMW put more into it for how expensive it is. Cardboard in the trunk!!!! WTF is that shit, come on use your F1 experience and build 80% of the panels out of carbon fiber. Plus as JC pointed out, all the ludicrous buttons, Traction control (Dont need; its a track car right!!), SMG, rather have a BMW 6 speed everyone praises. Anyway sweet video and im confused with the whole stig thing? Thanks for the video Jabba

Awesome video , dont really into BMW and never thought that this would be so so fast , 1.28 against 1.27 of the GT3 , exellent , amazing and 20 quid cheaper !!!

Although its the first M3 CSL video review i have seen, i have to say it not so great. i think topgear focused way more on the isle of mann than the CSL. It does have a beautiful sound for sure and looks absolutely astonishing but Topgear is a dulled down programme lately and so are the reviews.

worth the download but you wont be blown away.
I cant believe im saying this, but tiff is a better reviewer than jeremy lately.

i'm pissed

great video

i love the sound of the exhaust,, is simply amazing

m3 csl is actually not that great at all... the only reason it corners that well is due to the almost slick tires. on paper it suppose to be a faster car with 160+kg lighter and 15-20hp+ gain, but in reality, the acceration is almost identical to the regular stock m3

i would rather modd the hell out of my regular m3, and probably would be faster, and could possibly handle almost the same, maybe not as good, with the dinan supension

awesome stuff, I really hope they continue this stripped out track car trend and have the Ferrari CS some in as the final challenger of the group.

Firstly........I want to make a trip to the Isle of Man, although I would want to drive something faster than my own car.

Secondly......The new Stig, IMO not as smooth as the old stig, but it is more exciting to watch. It could be the car, but the old stig has mastered many a wild car!

Thirdly......Why does BMW feel the need for paddle shift?? It could have been an option! I would prefere a manual.

Fourthly......The Sound....oh the sound 8) The car is worth the money just for that sound!

Just finished downloadin...
It was an awesome clip.. Everything is perfect.. Place, car, Jeremy..
First I have to say it has an awesome exhaust sound.. Really like it...
Engineer thought everything to make car much more lighter.. No Air Condition.. There is only one fog lamp for the driver.. Light body.. Special rear window.. Damn fantastic..
It has an incredble performance.. Can feel the G power while at full throttle..
I have seen the newest one so I have nothin to say about the old one.. :D
Its just amazing that how can they built many years ago.. Such a powerful machine..
At the track.. It is much more faster than I though.. And especially its in wet track..
Really awesome car..

yea, but we gotta face the fact that sequential manual transimssion is the way of future whether you like it or not. most, if not all, car manufactures are really trying to promote sequential manual transmission.

the ex president of Motorsport GmbH made it clear that it won't take too long untill SMG becomes the only avilable transmission on M vihecles. as of today, more than 50% of E46 M3 sold are equipped with SMGII. and the more extrem version of the M3 (or CSL) only comes with SMGII.

Ferrari only offers F1 transmission on Enzo, and 360 Stradale. but you can get it on all Ferraris anyway. including 360 Challenge.

and as for Maserati, i don't think i've ever seen a Coupe/Spyder without the Cambiocorsa.

Lamborghini has E-Gear on both Murc and Gallardo, Aston Martin has it on all their line-up (V12 Vanquish, DB9), Veryon has it, Porsche will soon have one from VW. and VW, Audi are also enjoying the positive reviews from their newly developed DSG.

i know it sucks, i am not a fan of those high-tech gimmick either. but the truth is, it makes shifting much faster on the track. and whether you like it or not, it'll improve your driving at some point (given the transmission box isn't too bad)

well, the bottom line is that, enjoy driving manual while you can. because the end of conventional manual transimission is near.

Hmmm .. Lovely video.. like the wide screen format too Jabba. Strange that JC actually likes this car with a semi auto box.. I still think that BMW could have done so much more with this car. Its a ricier version of the std M3 IMHO and even EVO testers feel that it is not worth 20000 pounds more.. Engine sound did not strike me that much.. guess I was spoilt by watching Vicki in the stradale for the 20th time today before seeing this vid

Stig II gets the car sideways so nicely.. nice driving skill and times are pretty quick!

Isle of man is nice to live at if u can stand the weather.. NO SPEED LIMITS! just that u would get pretty bored after going round the island for the 50th time in one hour!

sucks that i am still trying to post as many messages as possible so that i can earn the previlige to download the video....:(

back on topic,
i totally agree with you, i am very disappointed about CSL.
i really feel CSL should be a bit more insane than it is. actually i thought it would be just perfect if BMW sells the CSL as it was at IAA 01'. honestly, i don't know how the back seat find its home back into the CSL afterwards.

the bottom line is that CSL is only fast mainly because of Pilot Sport cup. and is (too) expensive because all those carbon fiber reinforced plastic around the car, which doesn't really contribute much to the car both in terms of the regidity of the car and weight saving. mind you, a regular M3 can easily be lighter than CSL with Titanium exhuast, no back seat, 2 racing seat...etc

in the end, don't forget BMW are operate by Business mans, that claim themselves as enthusiasts.

having said that, i'd still want to get a CSL in a hear beat if it is available in North America though. 8)
