i have a quick question that i've wondered for some time now. how many acres is nurburgring. its a big track and i've always wondered how big the land it was built on is. :D

Nope, that would be a town in the middle of it. My question is if the ring is privately owned or owned by the government? I assume the governement.

I don't think they own all it surronds. I believe there is a town somewhere in the middle of it that was complaining about the noise during track day. Now there is a 95db noise limit on exhaust notes. Which just means there will be no ricers there :P
No - really - it is a one way public toll road.
Well - it is a 17 odd mile cirle, so just work out the area... what that formula again? Pi*r squared... :P
So -as they say in the classics... you do the math... ;)

half the year round its closed off for public...and its still a public road? :? beats me... :|

It's a public toll road (tahyt's why your inskurance is valid if you crash on it). There's a company (Nurburgring Gmbh r something) that has concession to run it and thy can close it for private events (as you can close any road wit permissions). It's easier for them as it leads nowhere and has no side roads connected to it ...
