Alright ladies and gentlemen, it has finally come down to two cars, which the winner will be bought this week, and of course I'm going to have custom shots in the "what i drive" section. I'm now choosing b/w the 2005.5 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and the 2006 BMW 325i (both with the Sports Package). So.... need all the feedback i can get, and the winner will be announced later this week. thanks for all of your help guys, i really do appreciate it!

If it's between the 2.0 audi and the 325i, get the 325i. You'll get much more for your money.

If I were you, I would stretch for a 330i instead though.

Living in Texas, that AWD will be useless unless you're driving through piles of cow crap :P

Go with the BMW. standard 4/50K warranty(upgradeble) and 3/36K maintenence(upgradeble) I don't think Audi offers full maintenence :wink:

Get the 330i if you want the Dynamic Drive and Active Steering (they might be offering this package with the 325 but i'm not sure 100%)

I think most everyone knows where i stand on this....BMW see if you can get a 330i. The 325i is peppy enough though, but the 330 just feels good.

If you can, drive both, then decide. Simple.

But I'd go with the 3 Series tough. More sporty and I prefer its engine over the one in the Audi.

But in the end, what YOU want it's all that matters. :)

hmmm...BMW is the logical choice. The new Audi's supposed to be as good as the old 3-series, but i don't know what people are saying about the new one. Personally I'd take a Saab 9-3 or 9-5 even if i will probably regret the choice. but they have soo much character.

*on a note, the US-spec Saab 9-3 Sportcombi will have colored rear lights rather than the cool ice-effect rear lights of the European-spec cars. I swear...if this was one of those things done by another one of those goddamn focus groups...

I test drove the BMW 325i (w/sport package) less than a week ago and the only thing that really inpressed me was the braking stability feature. Other than that, I felt that the power was HUGELY lacking, the seating was way too cramped, and all that I'd really be paying for was the BMW logo. The price is way too high for what you're actually getting. I'd never buy a brand new car though. Resale value is good though.

I went down the street and drove the 2005 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 (5 speed manual with sport package), What a difference, better performance (230 hp stock), more luxury IMO, AWD, better looks with the body kit that comes with the sport package, dual exhaust (better note), and costs way less than the BMW.

The 2005 X-Type 3.0 Sport will be my next daily driver.

X-Types are a steal right now. They took out 3000 in price and added 2 grand worth of goodies.

Also i think hes looking into the new E90 3 Series, which will have 225 horses from the 2.5 if i remember correctly.

Have you looked at Merc? If you want a nice plush ride, alright road handling and the badge, you cant go wrong with a C230 Sport Sedan or a C320, or C240. Hell you could pick up a C32 for the price of a new C320.

It is true actually. The E90 has the best leg room in it's class. Actually, all bias aside, according to literally ALL motoring publications, it IS the best car in its class.

If you go for the Audi, your only real reason for it was that "it wasn't a BMW", which is for all intents and purposes, a real daft (stupid) reason. I know a car is a very emotional purchase, but it is a purchase nonetheless. A car is an investment, and at the end of your time with it, you would like to get your money back. Whilst you're using it though, you would like to get the most out of your money, and at the moment, there is no better deal than the E90 3-series.

Anybody can suggest to you otherwise, but if you approach it logically, only the 3-series makes sense. You've got: the best legroom in its class, the (IIRC) 2nd biggest boot in its class, the best residuals in its class, the best driving car in its class, top interior build quality, overall the best built car, bulletproof warranty (in the UK at least), excellent dealerships (again, in the UK at least), excellent ride and handling, excellent mileage, and the best motorway ability of any car in its class.

Oh, and don't forget, BMW drivers get the most sex. ;)

As for those of you who didnt understand the original question, let me make it simple... no one said anything about throwing in different cars (330i, x-type)... you had to choose b/w two cars, so damn simple. and as for the guy who thinks its a dumb question to ask because im the one whos gonna be driving it, then whats the point of ever reading critics analysis on cars, it just learning from others opinions. but for those of you who understood the question, thanks again. pics will be posted next thurs (may 3), for those of you who are curious.

thanks guys, ill definately enjoy driving it and ill keep everyone posted about it (any mods i make or whatever). the price was about $41K with tax, title, and all the fees and shit. haha... just for those of you who are curious, im getting a personal liscense plate with YNGEXEC on it (young executive). kinda funny... hopefully next car will be in the new M3 or NSX range, this will do me just fine for now

Wow there, don't be an ass about it. I'm the one that made the suggestion about the 3.0 x-type. I understood the question perfectly and don't appreciate you making comments about how "damn simple" the question was.

We're all here to help you out, and regardless of what your question was, our intent was to provide you with some of our opinions with the cars you mentioned and maybe throw in one or two you may not have consiedred. I make my suggestion of the x-type based on what seemed to be your criteria for your next car (price, performance, comfort, etc...).

Mine, and everyone elses, intent here was to help you make this decision since thats exactly what you asked for. If some of us threw in a few other options, it was only with the intent of helping you out. A simple "thanks anyway" would have sufficed. No need to be unappreciative or rude about the attempt of helping you out. If you ask for help or an opinion ahout something, you should just be thinkful that people are willing to do so with good intentions, regardless of their response.

If I inconvenienced you in some way, I'm sorry! I'll just be sure not to cime in again next time you ask for help with something.

What are you talking about? I just assume that when you asked the question about which car to buy, the people would respond by picking one or the other because thats what the question was about. Following your logic, there would never be any point in asking anyone anything because you could never assume what they would answer having anything to do with the question.

I don't try to "assume everything" about others. I just assume that when you ask a question, the answer that you get should remotely pretain to the question asked, otherwise whats the point in asking in the 1st place? If you don't understand these simple concepts you shouldn't be posting here at all.

Being a true poser, of course the numbers mean nothing to you - bling 22" dubs and 14" subwoofers are your thing.

The same way the perceived luxury and status of a BMW, Audi or Benz means nothing to me :P
