This baby was my ride today. The chief editor caled me up and said I should go take pics of the car for the next issue and that the car is waiting for me at the office.

The car sounds, handles and looks like a dream.

I can finaly say from my own expirience that the GTI is a proper GTI again. It's not all about the power and grunt. It's about sophistication and the X factor. This car has plenty of both.

I drove it tough and hard. I emptied half the fuel tank in the first 3 hours, then I eased down a bit.

The steering wheel gave me a feeling like I was born with it in my hand. It's just perfect. The DSG gearbox would be my choice if I bought this car and belive you me when I say it shifts realy well.
When you shift down, it blips the throtle, when you shift up you hear a deep rumble coming out of the exhaust.

I made a short vid. Comming in the next week or two, along with the stuff from the track last saturday.

I'm really impressed by this car. It's so poised and calm in stresfull situations.

Enjoy the pics.

I actually don't like the normal Golf V, but the Golf V GTI earned a place in my heart :D

Great photography komotar!! I like the ones with the old building as scenery but also the following one is great. It may only have a simple background, but the red GTI just looks impressive on it:

lovely photography komotar! I absolutely love the new GTI, although I have never seen one in the fles, I love it, it looks very good and they say it's a step back to the original.

Thanks for the pics!

PS, I want your job!!!

Thx. I took almost 100 photos. But as usual only 5-7 are good enough to go in the mag.

It took my buddy ages to take the right shot when I was driving by him in the corner.

I was getting unpatient and I had to tell him how to do it like 10 times.

Here's me, starting to loose my patience

The only thing that bother me about the Golf is those Tail. My parents used to have a golf and I bet they are just as reliable so I bet it will be a great car. Great Pics!

Another positive review for the GTI, what is the 0-100 time for it?
Thanks for the pics komotar, they turned out very nicely with some nice backgrounds
BTW, was that cornering shot taken in the same spot as you drove the SLK? It seems very similar to the one I remember seeing in your previous video :?

The pic you are using as avatar now is one of your best ones even! Absolutely marvellous!! Like the others!

Thx

@dingo: Yup, the same spot. It's a nice little corner and no traffic whatever the hour.

Actually it's a nice twisty road. About 500m long with 6 cool corners. 8)

0-100 I think aroud 7 sec. I got it on video. Speedo view....

I take all the cars there.

I also tried to drift the Maser there but at such low speeds it just didn't work. I got it on tape. I just tried it once, because the car tends to snap and I didn't want to be calling the dealership and saying : hello, the Maser is no longer with us.....

@ronin: Yeah, I write in Slovenian. But unfortunatly I won't be writing about the GTI. My job with this one was to take pics. :( The editor allready wrote the article.

Thx man.

Yeah, I like that pic also 8) It'll probably go in the mag.

Sometimes it depends from the car, how the pics come out.

To be honest, having such a great looking car to take pictures of, makes it a whole lot easier.

It looks nice from every angle...

But still, it wasn't easy....

NICE!! God damn, that Golf GTI is one awesome car :D, not to mention the pics

Did you do any hardcore performance tests? What was your top speed?

I now consider you officially the luckiest Slovenian alive! :D

Well I drove the car hard for 2 hours. On the limit.

I got it up to around 225km/h, but I had to slow down because
there was traffic.......

The car needs alot of time to gather speed after 200km/h.

Here's a small pic I took.

About the luckyest guy........if we're thinking cars here, I'd recomend Jakaracman.

He get's to drive ALL the new rides. 8)

dang komotar, you're a lucky guy

btw, would you get the DSG over a normal manual? If real driving enthusiasts start prefering it over a proper manual, that really says something for the system.

komotar
04-22-2005, 09:45 PM
I really can't say. I'd still probably take the manual but alone the fact that I would take time to think about this speaks volumes. It's that good.

I assume you've driven the MKIV GTI, so i'm just curious if you feels it's that much better than it. Cause if it is i won't be able to test drive because of the jealousy factor. I sat in a new MKV jetta and the interior buttons in the center council feel cheaper than the MKIV, but it could be i'm baised. :)

I have driven the MK4 GTI once. Not as hard, but long enough not to get impressed.

You don't feel as connected with the car as you do here. That GTI felt like an ordinary golf with a little more power and little better suspension. And the main thing the X factor was completley absent. No soul, no charisma, no nothing.

I'm not saying the car is total crap. Far from it. But in comparrison to this one.....well, it's like comparing aples and oranges.
