Over 150km/h, the new M5 beated cars like :
Gallardo manual gear
New Viper
Techart 510 HP 996 Turbo.

It completely humiliates:
Porsche 993 Turbo with Turbo S engine package
E55 AMG Kompressor
E39 M5
Carrera 996 mkII

It is fair to say it is even to Gallardo, it depends whoever gets the jump. But there is a fari chanse that above 240 km/h the M5 will pass the Galalrdo and esp Viper. The M5 was clearly faster over 180 km/h than the Viper.

Must say I'm a little confused. Since this info comes from Bmw fanatics I'm skeptical. And I seriously doubt that the new M5 humiliates the 993 Turbo with the S engine package.

In a comparison test in march between the BMW M5 and the E55 AMG Estate the performance figures were very identical. The figures comes from "Teknikens Värld", a well respected car magazine in Sweden.

M5 0-70km/h 3.10s
E55T 0-70km/h 3.03s

M5 0-100km/h 4.73s
E55T 0-100km/h 4.77s

M5 0-200km/h 13.73s
E55T 0-200km/h 14.33s

M5 0-250km/h 23.28s
E55T 0-250km/h 24.48s

M5 0-402m 12.68s @ 192.4km/h
E55T 0-402m 12.78s @ 188.4km/h

Both cars running on wintertyres and have in mind that the E55 has a 100kg higher curbweight and is behind on power but is torquier..

^Good reply Ghostbat. I didn't think the disparity between the new M5 and its rivals was as great as JustMe described. Nonetheless, the e60 is a great car. I think we neeed vids to see what some of the other factors were.

ghostbat, you are aware of that all cars arent the same, some cars with less or more horsepowers than factory times claim. Best time a german carmag ever clocked E55 is 14.6 sec up to 200km/h, best germantime for M5 is 13.5 sec. so dont stare blind on one single tset.

just so you know, the cars was driven by their owtheir owners, driving skill is one factor.
"To clarify the races once more:

Gallardo:

we did rolling start from 50 km/h and 100 km/h then up to 240-250 km/h. If I waited to floor it until I saw the Gallardo floor it (he got the jump) he would be around one carlenght and that distance was constant up to 250 km/h and my feeling was that the M5 inched closer the higher speeds it got (see Adams post some days ago as well). If you didnt wait for the Galalrdo to get the jump it was sometimes the M5 first and sometimes the Gallardo first and then the distance between them was constant and I felt that the M5 was reeling the Gallardo slowly in over 180 km/h.

We did two races vs the new Viper and the Viper was clearly faster than the M5 under say 150 km/h but over that the M5 reeled it in alot faster than the Gallardo.

E55 was no match. in higher speeeds we talking around 5 carlengths is what I felt.

All of this is taken from memory and I have not yet seen the videos.

Also, a Techart 510 HP 996 Turbo was identical performance to the M5. Logically that 996TT was identical to the Gallardo.

993 Turbo with 430 HP Turbo S package was no match for the new M5, even when he cheated"

they have no reason to lie. Everyone who was there was impressed by the M5, even Porsche and Mb owners. Besides there will be videos so why lie? , make your judgment after that and bmw has no reason to relese a new M5 that is slower than for instanc eE55.

and by humiliate, the M5 was five lenghts ahead of the E55 when they at higher speeds. If its humiliation or not, its up to you to decide.

According to www.dragtimes.com the 993 Turbo S does 0-402m in 11.900s @ 188km/h. I think the M5 at best can do low 12:s hardly high elevens.

Just so you know, the driver of the M5 has only driven the car a few days, its not even his car. The owners of the E55 actually own the cars and have spending several hours and months behind their E55. They know their car more than the M5 driver knows the M5.

I seen test where E55 slower than M5 but it doenst matter. And faster than supercars, who fucking cares, all I care about E55 and what happend two days ago. (M5 accelerate faster, not several seconds but its faster and handles better and more involving than a E55.) So your carmags I dont care about it, so please create another topic where you describe your beloved E55 and that the car is fast like a M5.

Your know what?? I really didn`t want to say this but the SL55 has a 5.5l v8 with a supercharger while the M5 only has a 5.0l normally aspirated engine, so the M5 in theory should loose...only it doesn`t :lol:

No matter what, someday MB will come up with a car that beats the M5 (at least in a straight line) but that day is not today :wink:
