Ok, I'm leaving JW for a couple of days.
I'm having knee surgery tomorrow. Hope everything goes well.
I'll be back on wednesday.
Then I'll be posting pics from the racetrack. I went there yesterday. My boss owns a small racetrack . Got to ride in a 360 and in a rally civic r. Made videos and got a bunch of pics.
Did a bunch of laps in the new Suzuki Swift. Cool car. Brakes wen't dead after 3 laps. I was pushing hard.
I got to ride in a 997 S today. Cool car, much sportier on the edge than the 997.

shutup you bastard you make me jealous everytime you talk :P Seriously, congrats on the rides you got and I wish you the best of luck with the surgery
Maybe you have used the knee to harshly when driving, you need to slow down  I assume its from the old basketball injuries?

Yeah, I really can't wait for the recovery part :x
Thx for the support.
I would have the pics up by now, but I didn't use my own camera.
I used the magazines camera.

I got some nice detailed shots from the 360. And some shots from the track.
I'll edit the vid sometime next week.
I took the camera when I went for a ride in the civic. But I didn't take the camera when I wen't for a drive in the 360. It was in a car 300 m away and I didn't want to keep the guy waiting....
The chief editor will burn the cd for me tomorrow.

isn't that bad, the first days you feel like shit, you wish you never had surgery, but after the recovery you thank a lot you did it
btw, komotar, why the injury? playing soccer? football? anything at all??
I injured playing soccer but never took care of the knee and decided to have surgery when my knee hurted in cold days, and hot days, and... :|

basketball.
I've torn my cross ligaments 8 years ago, but because I have a very strong, how do you say phisique I managed to play b ball all this time. Every now and then I had minor problems but it was never a big deal.
In the last year or two, I started to have problems with my ( don't know the english word, but in latin it's caled meniskus) the thingys holding your bones apart in your knee. Two small bone like thingys started to tear. And one is torn in half so they'll fix that tomorrow and at the same time look at ma knee and see what can be done about the ligaments. I'll probably have another operation in the next month or so, when they'll replace my ligaments...

04-17-2005, 02:19 PM
aw man komotar stop talkin its makin me sick...and i think the word is meniscus in english (it is in dutch)...y didnt u undergo surgery 8 years ago?
komotar
04-17-2005, 02:23 PM
No, I didn't have surgery, because the first doctor said the ligaments are not torn, only damaged a little......
I found out the're torn 5 years ago, but by then I was ok.
I worked on my leg muscles and everything was ok till now.
The ligaments aren't my main concern. They can be replaced.
I'm worrien about my meniscus. Both of them.... :(
antonioledesma
04-17-2005, 02:28 PM
don't worry about your meniscus, in the worst case they're removed without any problem and you only need to rest more time and do regular exercise to maintain in good shape the knee.
My right knee's meniscus were "shaven" in surgery, to make them smooth and not cause any more trouble to my...damn... soft bone (cartilagus I think its the name in english)
I have my surgery video around here

damn dude, that shit sounds painful. makes me wonder if i got the same shit going on in my shoulders :(
forget the pain, the most annoying problem is you can't walk, run, do some normal things because you feel that the knee has an urgent need of oil/lubricant :? and it ... makes cool noises, just like your door when the hinges need lubricant :D
and with your shoulders I doubt it, the knee is a more specialized part of the body. Maybe you should remember the things you did or the time when your shoulders stared to hurt. A weightlifting injury? you were skating and fell down?
this would be easier if I knew the english names of some bones

After your meniscus surgery, how long did it take you to walk normaly?
Any big problems after that surgery?
Any info is welcome...
I'm suppost to be walking ( slooooowly) the next day......
I'll probably spend the nighr for observations and go home the next day.

04-17-2005, 02:44 PM
the doctor told me to walk right away he pulled out of my thigh a tube (to drain blood and liquids from the knee),
to walk "normaly" I would say 2 weeks because I've been a slow person to recover after surgery. Nowadays you don't use a cane/walking stick or anything else.
don't worry, the first day is the worst because you can't move, the good thing is that you spend it sleeping
big problems after surgery... mmhh, not really, only to regain trust to walk, run, etc

welcome back ;)
The little tube is called a "redon", just that you know.
But damn, do they still use plain watted compresses directly on wounds there? They should urgently start to work with Melolin and other stuff like that. No more sticky leftovers in the wounds, way easier & cleaner. Could be we are spoiled here...
(Melolin is a watted compress, but has a microfilm on one side. You put the microfilm side on the wound, and it doesn't stick to it. You pull it right off without leaving any mess or hurting the patient. Great stuff ;) )
thanks for the info thamar
Anyway, I feel bad for you Komotar to go under the knife again in a couple months, that sucks big time :?
Well as soon as you get over with you'll be good as new I guess, and don't use the gaspedal tooooo much :!:
