I had a sauna and jacuzzi in my old house. Hardly used the sauna.
I do visit a sauna but usually in connection with exercise. For example, after a day of skiing/snowboarding I would always visit a sauna and swimming pool.
What routine do people use. I have 10 mins in, then cold water to cool down. Then I go back in for a longer session.

I wish I had a sauna.
But when I go to a sauna, it's most of the time a conventional one (not electric). My routine? I keep sitting inside the sauna, till I don't like it any more, take a cold shower, relax somewhat on a couch, and go back in, etc.
Visit about 3 times per week (or however many times i decide to work out).
It's usually 80-90C, and i do a 15min, then 10 min swim, then 2min cold shower, then back in for a 20min sessh :)
Seems to help my skin and keeps me feeling relaxed after a hard 90mins in the gym 8)

I haven't been in one for years, but then I haven't seen the inside of a gym since April 02!
I enjoy a good steaming after a workout and the strategy is the same as Wutputt's: I stay in until I can't take anymore! It's usually breathing in the hot air that makes me get up and leave rather than the heat on my skin.
I've always wanted a house with a sauna and a jacuzzi, not too worried about a pool, they cost a fortune to maintain from what I hear.
Is there any truth in the rumour that certain scandinavian people give themselves a good thrashing with birch tree branches as part of the routine or do I just need to keep a lid on my fantasies
So the sauna is just a gay singles bar then... :P

I have a jacuzzi in my room (not in USA but in my country) and a sauna next door to my room (in the third floor). The sauna has been converted to storage lol because of the lack of use... and well Jacuzzi, I never use it either because its plain dumb waiting 20 mins to fill the thing up, sit there doing nothing for 30 mins (unless ur with the lady that is  ), and next time you want to use it, the water is cold so you have to yet waste MORE time refilling with hot water. It might help having a TV in the same location where the Jacuzzi is, but then again, I never watch tv cuz I cant stand comersials.
I have used the Jacuzzi few times when having fun with the lady. Only problem is, turning the jacuzzi on requires NO ONE to be in my house. I mean, if Im with my GF and ppl hear jacuzzi start, its obvious what we are doing. Something my mother does not mind, but my father wouldnt like the idea of sex in the house.
our area has a suana. My mom wants to put one in the garage.

Why am I not surprised about a gay comment from you
I guess that is the cultural difference, you don't have to be gay in here to go in sauna with other guys. Girls are welcome and often they come like in student parties and some work place sauna parties. It's funny to see how much heat guys are willing to put up with when there is a naked girl in the sauna with you:D
Didn't the Romans and Greeks come up with the idea of naked guys "discussing" philosophy in sweaty bath houses... :P
Those would be your southern neighbours...
So I guess that is a cultural difference or 2... ;)

The apartment building I live in has a sauna, but I rarely use it since I don't really like them. I prefer to sit in the spa......much nicer :D

You just haven't tried. We had an exchange student in high school from Australia. Once she got into a sauna naked with naked guys, she liked it already :D At least she said so, but on the other hand she also said that in general she prefers dancing better than sex, so...
yes, but I DON'T like being in a sauna with naked guys  Its not that though, since our sauna is usually empty so I can go in by myself - but I just find them uncomfortable :?

There is one in my apartment complex, but I never use it. Same goes for the hot tub, swimming pool and weightroom! LOL
