02/04/05 Nurburgring & Spa-Francorchamps visit

Drove about 700km in a couple hours ( avarage speed on highways must have been +-170km/h :twisted: ). First we went to the Ring, the roads to get to the nordschleife are awesome :o Had great fun chasing a Porsche 964. Saw a lot of nice cars there ; 2x E60 M5,many E46 M3,CSL,many GT3,SLK55AMG,2x R32,Clio V6,M coupe,... But really wanted to see a speedyellow Carrera GT,to bad :( On the way home we made pitstop @ Spa-Francorchamps, Pistenclub was there ; Black F40,5x SL55AMG,3xRS4,2xCSL,2xGT3,3xGT3RS,2xGT3Cup,SL65AMG ,...

dude, I think you need to edit your pics a bit more - ~900kb is way too much for a 1600x1200 pic. Here is the same pic after some compression and its a third of the size and you wouldn't be able to tell a difference in quality :wink:

the rest of the pics is coming, but i'm awaiting photoshop advice since most of the pics are taken at the same place i took the red gt3,so same problem with the sun :?

I use photoshop -save for web 85%, I'll make it 60%. Or is there another way to lower the size ?

It's possible to select the object (Nürburgring sign) and that you adjust the contrast and the brightness of it. If you want to get rid of next time, I would advise you to use a polarisation filter.

I think the Cokin filters are a good choice > www.cokin.fr These polarisation filters take the reflections of the sunlight away.

Dude, for the "sun problems", photoshop can't help that much (take a look at the sticky topic though).

A polarizer filter will do wonders. I bought one and always use it in sunny conditions, it is mandatory ;)

ok, thanks for the bad news :lol: won't buy a polarasation filter for this camera(dsc p92), shoud be getting a D70 soon, then can take pictures of the cars on track, instead of lousy parking pictures :?

i really hate that f*cking p92, all those nice cars but the pictures turn out to be very bad :cry: check this beautiful CSL(c/f GTR hood, and trunklid was also made of c/f) but again to much sun,and camera is to slow to capture it on track

If you are going to buy a D70 or any other DSLR you are almost obliged to using a circular polarisation filter in does conditions. The camera itself won't fix that problem. I have used a polarisation filter myself for the photos I made at the Nürburgring last time. The you will get the best result when you make a angle of 90° with the sun, but yea that's theory, good to know anyway :wink:

Like I said before, I use the circular by Cokin and I also have one of B+W > www.schneiderkreuznach.com it's a German manufacturer.

Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of work to be done. The background needs a lot of work. I did not finish, but you get the idea; In fact, looking at it now, I would do the background in a completely different way.

thats better, but I usually set it to about 50% which is still good enough :wink:

As for the save for web matter. For 1600x1200 pics I always save between 45 and 50, to keep them closer to 300 kb since I am already usuing 900+ MB on my website :roll:

Jon, very good job on that GT3! What did you do to remove that sun glare? I guess you did it manually, the result is very good, but well, when you have lot of pics to edit for colors, brillance and so on, if you also have to manually remove glares, you'd better invest in a filter ;)

Oh I agree TT!! A filter is a good investment!

I removed all the glare free hand as it were. I used colour from either side and brushed it in. However, I just click on each spot (i.e not drag the mouse to draw a line). I keep clicking until the area is dark enough then move on e.t.c Again, I use the blur tool to murge it, but no dragging again. Just multiple clicks on small areas. This pic was quite hard to match in terms of noise, so I ended up changing the noise level of the whole door (by filter) which you can see on close inspection. I also put in a sky blue filter.

The CSL looks a bit pooly, but my god from the looks of it, he/she could have lost the whole back end of the car!!

When I talked to him about a year ago he wasn't really satisfied with the suspension setup of his CSL. So he was planning on contacting a M3 race team to help him setting up his suspension. Apparently he didn't just went there to get a good suspension setup, he just bought their car :lol: :lol:
