TopGear @ Nurburgring again !

We were there yesterday, I saw Sabine taking off in a van with camera's mounted everywhere. Immediatly remebered what she said to Jemery " I can do that in a van !"
In the afternoon she did some more laps and little Richard was sitting next to her.

Awesome nice catch! , we all know vans are the fastest anyway :P , but surely that thing has to be modified to stop it rolling over!

Sabine in a van? That's going to be very interesting. She's always interesting to watch, especially in a diesel jag! One day they have to have aTop Gear / 5th Gear special. Pit sabine against vicki and the stig against tiff... and jeremy against tom ford? :lol:

This is what I have heard about.

I spoke with a german guy last weekend. He told me that Sabine wanted to break Jeremy's "record", everybody knows that it was the 9min.59sec lap, and Sabine wanted to break it in a Van (rear wheel drive one:D ) But she didn't manage into it. He (german guy) said that she was driving on the edge, she was drifting in several bends. She didn't break Jeremy's time because the van was just under powered ofcourse :? Would have been hilarious though :!: :!: :!:

Yeah, i mean i just dont see how a van can beat the jag - which is at the top of the diesel class pretty much. I mean, ive been for rides in my brothers LWB turbocharged mercedes sprinter, and that thing has a LOT of torque, but in a Transit, i would have thought it would be near impossible

They should show an analysis of both laps... what if her corner speeds are higher than JC's... :) Then they can show if the van only lost in a straight line at top end that with a higher gearing the van would have beaten the gorilla with the Kevin Keegan hairdo... :P

Too bad that it doesn't really matter that the van is underpowered. The whole point of the comparision was that the van is underpowered, but Sabine is a better driver.

and the whole point of my comment was that sabine being better driver would result in a van lap with higher cornering speeds.

Much like the videos of Ring mini lapping with M3's and GT2's... and corning past such high powered cars, but losing in the straights.

Thx for the pics & the information guys. I'm glad we got this information, that makes me even more excited for the upcoming top gear season!

Sabine's claim that she could do that laptime in a van is a very bold claim IMO. And I doubt Sabine can manage higher cornering speeds then Jeremy in the Jag. She can maybe brake later & be smoother but a van vs a 207 RWD Jag isn't very fair is it...

And one thing I also regret, why have they taken such a slow van?? That Ford Transit has a maximum of 115hp. If they had taken a Mercedes Vito or Sprinter, that would have been better. They're still vans but they have a better suspension & more powerfull engine's. I've seen some Vito's which I could hardly keep up with the little Yaris... In a Vito you can get a 150hp diesel or even a 231hp petrol engine :twisted:
In a Sprinter you can get a 156hp diesel.

Apart from that, I'm very much looking forward to the feature!!

Nothing less than a Viper GTS as a camera car, in the jeremy episode there was a xjr as the camera car. Abs fab, i am also looking forward seeing the next evo mag with tvr special and next fifth gear with tvr:s also. Something to cool my anxiousness waiting TG.
