...regarding drug use refrences in posts, but how about member names?

I was looking through the upcoming birthday list and saw these two:

they aren't posting members so i dunno.

I think censoring usernames in general is a bad idea EXCEPT if its obviously a name that was chosen to abuse another member ... and with 22.5k users I do not want to be going through them all

well, the reason i asked was because of JW's image. People do tend to use one negative thing to hold it over a site. I just wouldn't want someone to see that and think that this is something we condone by allowing members to to use names like that, that's all.

i know it would be a pain to search all 22.5K but we could always wait until their names come up on the b-day lists :wink: slow, but easier than a search :wink:

I actually agree with Zfrk. If there was some regulars posting with the names 'cocaine', 'heroin' etc, i wouldn't be offended but i would look at the name and think 'moron' :roll: . I can definately understand Dan not wanting to sort through names; seeing as though there are no regulars with odd names, perhaps putting in place a screening or something may eliminate this from actually happening in the future though.

Nah - censoring user names that are not obviously racist or insulting to others is a losing cause.

Just let em display themselves and be made fun of :)

yeah it'll be a year before that name is seen again anyway - its not likely they will post before their next birthday :wink:
