you have that batty right turn rule over in the states don't you? Don't completely understand that completely otherwise would help ;) Probably doesen't come into it anyway....
Are the stop signs give way (yield?) signs or traffic lights?

No clue my fellow JW member....
here in mexico most of the right turns can be done just like you did, even when you have a red light, only of you do it carefully

Wouldn't be a problem if you just put a roundabout or "rotary" as you call them there :P

According to our rules its a BS but in US/Canada can be different. We have give way cars on the right and on the pic both are facing, so no problem. And we dont have special scholbuses

Oops I assumed he lived in USA. But I still dont think its illegal. He didnt do anything wrong as long as he stoped fully and gave his blinkers. You are allowed to turn just not pass as far as I know. But then again its different every where. If I were you I would not worry.

I believe it is illegal. Go to your DMV website and see if you can download the state driving manual and see if that maneuver is illegal.

^ what he said
I have the TX handbook right here but no use to you, I guess. If the sign on the bus said stop then you should stop unless there is a solid median, regardless of what side of the road you are on
As for her calling in your plates, let it go to court... she is 90% likely a teacher and won't be able to attend the court hearing thus the case will get thrown out.

Does it not say "pass a stopped bus"?
Nothing about turning before a stopped bus - otherwise in theory, everyone on the same road as a bus has to stop - which the way I understand is only stop to prevent passing said bus... not stop simply because on same road as bus

In the US that is definetely an illegal maneuver. You aren't supposed to move if the bus has its flashing red lights on.
Try posting again.... i'm sure yoda will understand

I believe its illegal. I think the main concern is that children might be crossing the street you turned right on to. That being said, i'm sure you checked to see if there actually was any kids crossing.

How do you get that its an illegal turn? You are not passing the bus.
Now the no passing applies to both sides of the road, but not ahead of or behind the stopped bus.
The only thing they may get you on is how far from the stopped bus the stopping and no passing law applies.

Most laws seem to only cover the straight road situaiton. I wonder what the actual law is with regard to right turns?

i agree it doesnt seem like that is a violation IMO, but who knows it couldbe some sort of traffic technicality like RC was saying how far from the stopped bus the stopping and no passing applies.

I beleive if a police officer were in traffic behind you they would have pulled you over. Whether it's illegal or not, it probably is since the school bus was straight across the intersection from you. Thats a very short distance. But goodluck if you get a ticket in the mail.
Under what violation of traffic law would he pull you over.
They don't have a "I didn't like his hair style" ticket code.. ;)
If anything, it may be you moved closer than xx ft/xxx m from the front/back of a stopped school car.. ;)

YES,
the reason kids could live on the bottom right hand conner, and they could of been there when you turned,
so yes.
but let it go to court they can't prove anything. I would like to see them try
Doesn't matter where they live - what does the law state?

in canada/ontario, no car is allowed to move except if you are in front of the bus (same lane)
it is either 20m or 50m one of the two and almost the same law with streetcars in toronto, 2m back or infront of the door, you can't move at all.
Then the distance from the front of the bus is the issue - not the right turn.
So if the intersection is wider than 20 meters (or 50), you are ok :)

as far as i know .... if your car is left hand drive ... and there is no " NO right turn" sign board .. you can turn ...

Seems pretty stupid to be parked right at the edge of an intersection (the bus), I would give the bus driver the ticket :P

I have no respect for 98% of bus drives, they just pull out, take time to change lanes or just do it without indicating, scumy bastards. No respect for cars none from me either.
