Have any of you guys considered using Bit Torrent as a file distribution system rather than plain old ftp or http? It could help alleviate traffic on the servers because everybody would be contributing to download speeds.
If you guys haven't heard about it, what bit torrent does is spread a file(s) by making each person connected upload and download portions of the file at the same time.

I think that's a good idea!!! I'm starting to work with that now.

I suggested it before... I dunno, it didn't seem to provoke much interest. The only problem is that it would require a certain number of seeds to be set up first anyway, which would have to be done by http/ftp. And then these people would have to have fast, reliable connections, with a high bandwidth cap. Still, I think it merits further thought, at least for smaller vids (e.g. the recent Challenge Stradale and GT3 vids).

The good thing about seeds is that you don't need any special connection, though. Basically all we would need is someone willing to donate a small amount of webspace and bandwidth to host the .torrent files and the files can be left to everyone else. Having more than 1 seed isn't neccesary, lots of files spread with just one source, all you need is for the seed to be online for a good bit in order to allow other people to become seeders.
Yeah it was already discussed, but we're not really interested in that type of sharing.. to wide spreaded... we're pretty happy with the system as it is :) .. ;) and I hope Jabba will back me up on that ;)
And moved to the right place
