The amount of power in some of these engines are insane. 1100Nm is some serious torque, and I'm gueesing the S600 CDI is going to break some diesel engine records. Propably an engine very well suited for the S-class.

I am not sure about those figures, the 6.3 V8 is announced for a long time but always nothing in view. :?:

I think the S600 CDi sounds like the ideal engine for the new S-Class - powerful, gutsy and refined, yet much cheaper than running the equivalent petrol! Just still a bit shocked that the new 65 AMG has met Euro IV emissions!!
The V12 CDI might really be a good choice, however, its power figure or the specific output is not even slightly impressive considering Alfa needs 4 liters of displacement only to get that. And it seems they've made some mild improvements to the gearbox if it can handle 1100Nm by now.

1100Nm is some serious torque
811.3lb/ft of torque!!!
And the S class engine line-up probably means the engine line up for the E-Klasse, CLS-Klasse, M-Klasse, G-Klasse, R-Klasse, and SL-Klasse

Impatiently waiting for AMG-Carlson-Brabus version of the CDI600. Will it be the first 500hp car diesel engine?

Partly.. The E-Klasse will hardly have the V12 CDI.
