I mean having problems with downloading from torrents, kazzas and other if you can borrow it in rent-a-movie stores for few bucks's and see if its any good or later buy it for a bit more but still not THAT expensive? We here have great perices now for DVD's - 2-3 films in set for ~20-25€. 1 DVD from ~10-20€ and its not some old useless crap but almost new or good/classic films.
A year-two they cost lots of money but now film companys realize that they want too much money cause people know whats the price of DVD dics.
Of course they will not sell LOTR sets or Star Wars for that price cause its hot goods, but not everything is a hot goods.

Same thing with games(except that borrowing thing), you can dl demo to check it, saying that demo's are different than original gave is mostly not true IMO. If you buy it and its really crap, you can sell it in second-hand games shops wich you for sure have around with a little loss on price. And the prices of new games are incredibly low these days too, RBrally or latest Colin was for 30€ sometimes less, Rally trophy was from beginning for 10€, Flatout for 10€.

One thing what are torrents and kazzas good fror is shows wich you cant get anywereelse. I dont know if dl shows is against a law :? I hope not 8)

I dont say I am an  but still I prefer to have original on my table than anything else. I can't show what I have to people I know if its not original, I just dont feel good to do so.

Don't want to create useless flame war but what do you think? Thats my point of view.

Well originals are good but most of the time, you can download a movie (dvd quality called screeners) much before you can buy the DVD. I never watch a movie 2ce unless its very good. So instead of waiting for the DVD I usually get it faster by other means. If I really like the movie, then I buy it DVD form.

I prefer to have original stuff too, but sometimes it is not available, i.e. TG in the USA.

As for downloading games/videos and paying for it, I don't generally do this. I prefer to have hard copies of stuff, like a CD or DVD.

If a paid-for download was the only method available, I'd expect to be able to burn the software/vid to CD or DVD straight after (i.e. no copy protection)

well but the rips take a long ass time to do. Instead of DRIVING to blockbuster and paying to register and doing the job yourself, you can just get stuff onilne and then buy the ones worth it.

Only problem on getting vids online is that the DVD-R dloads have the extra stuff stripped cuz they want to make the DVD fit on those 4gb instead of the duallayered 8gb ones.

Like demon said, movies sometimes come out wayyyyy sooner on internet than the store. I usually download a decent copy (not those crappy cam ones), if I like the movie, I will buy it when it comes out.

DVD's and audio CD's are extremelly expensive compared with the average incomes here in Poland. DVD's cost at least 15€ which is just a bit less of what I get every month from my old man as pocketmoney. People here gave basically no choice, so MP3's and DivX movies are popular. As for MP3's, thx to p2p programmes I can listen to bands whose CD's I could never buy in Poland. The bands raise money though when I go to metal concerts ^_^

it's true that if u buy the original....u'll help the industry to growth..
but then if we look at the information technology which developed drastically...
problem like this cannot be cope anymore....information & data can be send in a matter of time....
that is why people like to download what they want....why should they buy when they can get it for free....

since the topic hasn't been clearly defined. yes its easier to buy than to download in china or hong kong. this is because pirated goods are cheap and easily accessible

The reason for buying DVDs for me would be because I liked the movie a lot and I want to 1) Support the movie and 2) get the extra scenes which are deleted off the DVD rips (even the DVD- DVD, they take away the extras to make it fit on a normal DVD-R)
