Inspired by the St Patricks Day thread, I thought I would start a topic in order that we can share our 'roots' with oneanother, so here goes...

I'm English by birth, 1/4 Irish, 3/4 English...There is possibly a bit of French in our blood but I can't be sure; my fathers family originates from the south Devon coast in England.

We traced our history back to the mid/early-1800s but it all gets a bit vague thereafter as my forefathers were farm labourers and couldn't read or write - they signed their names with an 'x' on the 19th century census

Who's your daddy :?:

German, with a tad bit of French in there. I forget the name of the town my family comes from! LOL I know I still have family there though.

we have successfully traced my family's heritage to several places... and the Irish connections are the most vague, but sprout up several times.

on my dad's side, its Irish-German with more known about the German history. we came from near the center of Germany, where we found traced back to the 12th century. at that point, we then found further traces back to the emerald Isle. my great grandmother/grandfather was full blooded German imigrants on my grandmothers side; on my grandfather's side, Irish and a strong possibility of menonites.

on my mom's side its mostly bankers back to the early 16th century in Jamestown. which then lead from scotland. also, my grandfather's herritage comes from some lordship in england, who in the 16th century died from a carriage accident.

my most famous reletives were Ulysses S. Grant, and Dr. Solomon Spalding (who inadvertently created mormonism, which was based on ficticious events of a book he was wrighting in retirement...and were stolen while he had taken ill)

I have Italian blood on both sides. My dad's father and mother immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's. Grandma was Sicilian, Grandpa was born in the south part of Italy.
My Great-Grandparents on my mothers side ( her dad's side) immigrated here in 1917. I have the records of when they arrived at Ellis Island. Great-grandpa got here first and got a job and then several month's later great-grandma arrived here with her children aboard the S.S. Oceania, My grandfather was born on that ship as they were approaching the US. My mom's mother, I don't know much about but I know she is of Italian ancestry. She abandoned mom when she was 6 month's old. Her name was Sirami.

I'm all Brit as well, family has been traced back to the south west corner of england, near Cornwall, and the family pedigree goes back to the 1500s. In a week's time i will have my family signet ring, and i even (very pretentiously) have our family crest in a frame in my bedroom. Sad, yed, but i guess i'm proud of my heritage.

And i think coomsie may actually be 75% British and 25% Cartman, eh mate?

ok... by my dad's side seems that no one was "special" or nobody cares.
by my mom's side... my grandmother was 1/4 of spanish (and that family says they're related to a noble family in Spain....yeeeahh, right), my grandfather was son of a frenchman and an italian...woman.
If anyone that lives in France knows a lastname that is somewhat related to Larre... can you tell which is it? please?

My Mom was born here in Canada and so was my grandparents. Great grandparents are from england i believe but i am not too sure. My dad was born in Glasgow Scotland, moved here when he was 11. Everyone on his side is from Scotland. His name is Malcolm, mine is Callum (same name different language, Galic for those 'in the know" ) So basically, I am 100% British beef, but Canadian born and raised. My grandfather(not by blood, but i consider it so) is Irish, so I must uphold my St pattys day commitment to boozin!

I'm mostly German, with Norwegian,French, and bit of Irish in there. My major family lineage traces back to ~1200's Munchen (Munich), from there we traced it to the royal brewers of Bavaria, Spaten. They're still there in Munchen and we've tried to talk to them, but they seem to think we're after their money, which we're not... Also there is a lil bit of black in me on my moms side, and also from her side I'm related to Buffalo Bill.

Well, my direct heritage is:
Mum = Irish (Born in Ballymena)
Dad = Cornish (Born in Plymouth)
Me = English (Born in London)

My mum has strong connections with Scotland.
We have a lot of the convicts that were 'exported' to Australia in the family. Ironically, they are now one of the wealthiest 'arms' of the family.
I have lived out in New Zealand for a few years (Manurewa in Auckland)

Hey, hey, I'm from India originally. Moved to Canada in 1990. Let's see, for those here that are indian, i'm half goan and half manglorian by my parents. My great grand mother was iraqi, but she left there when she was like 14 or something. Someone on my mom's grandfather's side is scot, somewhere in my mom's side there's also some british. AS for my dad's side, its mostly indian, although there is some portuguese in there as my last name is silveira. A pretty mixed bag as far as i'm concerned. I also look forward to injecting plenty more nations into our family tree. :D Or maybe just injecting myself into girls from different nations. :D

I"m part German and part Irish for sure. I want to say 50-25 respectivley. Not sure what the rest is. Kind of difficult for me to find out since i would have to find out who my biological parents are first

My adoptive dad's side is Polish, hence the Polish last name. Can't remember my mom's side though :?

Its true that they couldnt leave country for decades. They did moved but not so many I guess, but they did in volume in 90's

I am half Czech & Slovak from my dad's side of the family. Both my great grandparents were born in the Czechoslovakia area. My grandma is full blooded Czech and my grandpa (God rest his soul, died 2 weeks ago :( ) was full blooded Slovak (with maybe a little bit like 5-10% of something else way down the line). I'm not so sure about my mom's side. I know theres a lot of German, Austrian, and Norwegian.

I'm a mutt :-D

My great grandparents hailed from Poland/Belarus/Prussia/Russia (they were sort of on the border and the border changed a lot), Austria, and Germany.

My dad retired at 55 and he's basically a ski bum...spending his winters out in Colorado and his summers travelling, playing golf and "looking for a job" (bullshit!! hehe)

ok, i actually managed to find something on my grandfather (whom i only rememebr meeting once) I'm still trying to find his obituary from the NY Times, but i can't remember what year he passed away.

Nosek, Kenneth A., awarded Bronze Star: 3/15/45p8

Nosek, Kenneth A., awarded Purple Heart: 10/19/44p3

Nosek, Kenneth, weds Jeanette Connor 1/31/43: 2/4/43p5

His family immigrated from Poland in the 30's. If i remember right, there were 7 kids in the family. One died of pneumonia and two in a fire i think. It's been awhile since i've heard the story.
