i've been hoping for one that actually fits me, but i have been a bit more cautious about what and where i post :wink: Frankly i think that certain people that get demeaning titles are well deserving of them..well..except for PB, but he was kind of asking for it by posting those "rare" photos :lol:

Its not an issue, the admins give them to those they feel deserve one (can be good or bad :lol:) Its their decision, asking for one for no particular reason is just attention seeking IMHO..... also if you say you don't want one you'd probably be more likely to get one!

Mine just appeared, and although it doesn't exactly say alot about me its a laugh! :D everyone who has one takes them as intended IMO....

( BTW i don't go throwing laptops about generally, and believe me you don't want to go through the experience of dropping one :P ..... insurance companies are a PITA!!! )

generally asking for one is a damn good way of not getting one.. only special cases get them.. either you're a long standing member who's contributed a lot, in which case you could probably get one of your choice ( like I did with 'Video Pimp' :D ), or you've done something exceptionally stupid / funny in which case you might get one for the hell of it, in either case you might get one whether you like it or not, but at the end of the day custom titles are a rare and special thing and will remain so for ever


hassling an admin for a special title is annoying to put it mildly.. if you deserve it you'll get it.. begging is definitely not the way to do it

as a fact, here in mexico it's almost sure you'll have a nickname with your friends or at school, and having a cool nickname shows how you are appreciated or respected. But if you have the misfortune of having a disgraceful nickname... what a pain in the ass it can be.
only to finish my crap, a nickname in a certain community in the most cases shows how you're liked and how the members are united... at least here in my country, and if you don't like this, sorry mate, its not my intention to confront or disrispect the bAdmin, but different ways of thinking here and there and that's what I think

I think i get what you're saying antnio. baisically a nickname (or custom title in this case) can show two different things in your culture. And you would prefer a title, should you get one, that shows you are respected here. Instead of MyBimmerM5's or Apac's which seem to show that they are not really respected, despite their intentions when given.

You feel titles should be earned instead of requested. But it seems like you might have misinterpreted this thread. I think TransAm just wanted to find out who wanted a title and who didn't, not nessacarily which title they specifically wanted. :wink:

well I think its the same in a lot of places, for sure on JW most titles are given because of respect for that member, so no real difference there :)

I think I was happy with myself when I got the Maser for 8hours (and some other cars) for a test drive, when people said that was simply impossible, including the president of the company that is responsible for bringing maserati and ferrari to my country. That's it.
