im not sure i get the significance. is it the type of license plate (the rainbow?) that makes it special... or what?

it means the car is registered in Hawaii, therefor it is a car that at one time was in hawaii, so it was shipped or flown to the continent. Its rare cause its $$$$ to transport a car. So you can assume tho owner had the car shipped to use while over here, forwhatever reason.

haven't got a pic, but there is a old left-hand-drive cadilac with californian plates in Sydney

its the first LHD car i've ever seen, and its even more expensive to ship a car to here

^ Hahaha, that's funny.

Yeah, I just thought it was *special* because I've never seen a car that is registered in Hawaii before.

I bet it is a rare sight :D I am always amazed when I see US registered cars around here (happens probably twice a year, but last time it was last week, an old Voyager from Maryland in Gstaad LOL)

I don't get it? Please explain?

As for the topic. I understand the significance of the Hawaiian plate - maybe not a big deal to some, fair enough, but I always keep an eye out for northern plates - someone's got to have driven all that way to get to Texas.

I've seen Alaskan plates (an RV - not so special and a Focus - a bit more suprising to see so far from home)

I've also seen Ontario plates, on motorcycles (some retired guys). Dunno what impressed me more, 70 year olds on bikes or the fact they were 2000 miles south!

It actually probably has more to do with Haitian than Cubans. But you always see them on the news trying to swim over to Florida. One time they tried it with a bunch of old oil barrels and floating wood barges and such. Usually the US Coast Guards stops them and pick them up and turn them right back over.

the owner must love very much his car...way too much for paying all the shipping and handling via UPS that car. And it isn't an exotic or supercar

^ He might have moved to Cali, and hadn't had time to get his new plates yet.
