I'm looking forward to this although I'm not a SUVs fan this Mercedes is looking great and i think it will be a real competitor to the ugly Cayenne Turbo.

INFO:
ML 63 AMG with 462 hp and 600 Nm 6.0 liter V8 AMG (M156) late 2006

Hmmm...never have been a fan of SUVs, but this one looks ok. The back window shape kind of reminds me of that new Cadillac SUV, and those headlights don't seem to fit.

How much does this chunk of metal weigh?

I don't know an exact figure about the weight, but it should be around
2.2-2.4 tonnes with that big 6.3 engine.

I like it. Wheels look ok to me.

It should look even better in black. Can't wait for more pictures and first tests....

Will this be powered by 6.3 V8 or V12 then?

Looks aren't too bad either way, but still not a fan of SUVs..

LOL "I looks really great!"
It is a photoshop pic, but as i learned from other sources this pic is a very close call to the original.
And it's a 6.3 V12 AMG.

:x If you are a close minded BMW fan, then yes everything Mercedes does is pointless.....

EDIT:Ghostbat you are right the new 6.3 AMG engine for the M class is V8, although there is possibility of a V12 6.3 AMG engine

We have ourselves a sharp one. Let me give you a quick lesson about jumping to conclusions.

My father needed to replace his E34 5-series five odd years ago. It was a great car, so he naturally thought why don't just get the new 5? I, the "closed-minded BMW fan", instead recommended an E-class, which he went on to buy, still drives, and is very pleased with.

So keep your petty little comments to yourself. I don't think Mercedes' power game is stupid because i'm a BMW fan, I think Mercedes' power game is stupid because it's stupid. Capice?

First of all forums is all about comments and personal opinions sharing between members so don't tell me to keep my comments for myself!!! Then considering your signature pic  , you want to tell me that you are not a closed minded BMW Fan, sorry my friend but nobody is buying that.

Obviously, getting my dad to spend £40k on a MB rather than a BMW doesn't count for anything, but a dig at MB in my sig and i'm the enemy..

I'm not telling you not to have your say, im just saying think about it first before those whirlwind fingers of yours get to work.

Since when do you speak on behalf of everybody?

Look i won't play with words and i won't go on anymore with this and of course you are not my enemy because you said something not positive about MB, but IMO you can't call a good looking SUV with lots of power to play with pointless. Do you consider the powerful Range Rovers and the awesome Porsche cayenne pointless?

THE END

You see, that's all you had to say from the start. I dont think the ML is pointless. I think Mercedes' power game (against itself) is stupid.

See? No need for name calling when debating cars ;)

Personally, I like the looks of that. Much better than the current M class. As for the super power in it, as long as Mercedes can find a market for that I think it's justified. And following the trend set by the cayenne, i think they just might. I just wonder y they made it 6.3 and not 6.5L

Wow I generally hate the M class, but this one... looks good? Weird. Tho of course if it is an M class, then it will handle like poo and won't be able to go offroad at all. In that aspect the Cayanne will have it licked. But I do think it looks better than the Cayenne, and with that AMG engine I'm sure it'll go like stink

fireguy
02-14-2005, 04:51 PM
that's nice - i'd take that over a Cayenne.

CSedl87
02-14-2005, 07:05 PM
A V12? Can you say nose heavy? The Cayenne is the better car here, and already they offer a upgrade to 500 hp, albeit for 13k, but I'm sure it'd cost the same or less than the ML63. The Cayenne, unlike this, is also a real off-roader, and a sports car. It can handle with the best of em, and go offroad with the best of em. And I agree Mercedes' power war is stupidity. When are you ever going to need all that power? The Autobahn? 95% (or more) people who will buy this are probably no where near Germany. Do you consider the powerful Range Rovers and the awesome Porsche cayenne pointless?

Yap, most people do. Looks like it's going to be the 1960's/70's again....

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the Mercedes ML, since my family use to own one two years ago.

The new one however looks really nice and the body style I have to admit is very nice in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it will handle the same...which is pretty shitty. :?

personally i don't think its pointless...the 6.3 ltre engine is very common in suvs like the escalade is a 6L engine...mercedes is not pointless on whatever they do...people say that their cars are horrible on track but you gotta look at it this way, majority of the mercedes driver agree that they aren't the best track cars but in fact they are made for the roads...bottomline mercedes are made to be the ultimate luxury road cars

i like this new car but i dont see the point of this new 6.0L V8. the S/C 5.5 is just fine and actually makes more power granted im sure the new 6.0L can be tuned for more but does anyone know why they have developed this new engine?

maybe its lighter than the 5.5L S/C unit? and is this new 63 series AMG a replacement for the 55 series vehicles? just kinda confused as to why they are using it.

but back on topic i do like the looks of the new ML and whatever engine they put in it im sure it will be a great automobile. :D

Who cares? It'll fall apart like all Mercs nowadays anyway.

I agree on whoever called this garbage pointless. Because it is.

What's the point of stuffing 3 Rolls-Royce aeroplane engines on a golf cart? Because it'll go like the clappers?

But can it make the corner? No?

So what's the point?

See the logic?

Well, same thing applies on AMG Mercs.

the escalade is a 6L engine... The Escalade also doesn't have a V12 with 460 hp...

I actually really like this, i was not a fan of the old m-class but this one looks nice. The next x5 got to be nice to compete with this.

MercedeSChink
02-15-2005, 12:37 AM
no one said its a v12 460hp engine...btw, it's supposedly a 5.5L V8 engine ported and polished to a 6.3L V8 engine...don't know the rest of the story though...lets just hope, since its made in the states again, things will not break down dat easily...talk about american reliability...

SilviaEvo
02-15-2005, 12:58 AM
^^american reliability! lol should be made in Germany it is proper that way. i would rather have this over a Cayenne or any other SUV. dont quote me on that. you've had a ML55 before what do you think of it?

blah
02-15-2005, 03:31 AM
I think the next V12 engines will be 63s too 6.3 Liter BiTurbo V12, or 67. Cant remember which.

Finally a kid carrier that looks good, I like it better than the X5 and toureg.

However I still think SUV's should be taxed off the roads though, the sheer mass and momentum overide the safty features in normal cars.

This is a big leap over the aged and now crappy looking M-class.
Only doubt for me would be the back, the backlights being located so down :?
