THis is a p2p program that can only be used if you live on a college campus. so if your on a campus, check it out. Its really nice and fast.

Another question: If I do use a p2p, is there anyway to make it impossible for people to monitor what i dled? Also, when Microsoft is sending me updates for my computer, should I dled those or are they going to just screw my computer up some more?

P.S. I know very little about computers. So be easy if these is a common sense question.

I would not suggest this. In the past things like this has ended up with the FBI.

I know a while ago some ppl at RIT (i think) had something like this and a bunch of ppl there got raided by the fbi, and there was a hub on DC that was for i2 only and it got shutdown and ppl got in trouble with law enforcement and their schools.

oh really. I never heard about this. This could be a lil different since i2hub is linking all college campuses together though. So there is no one specific campus they could raid..unless they want to raid them all. But I will keep that in mind. thanks for the heads up.

I don't know too much about I2hub, but I hear pretty decent things about it content wise. I wish I could comment on safety.

There's one source here that gets used, based on a similar P2P system as I2Hub (called DC++) that only students with university IPs can use, which is theoretically more secure. (that system was created after a long line of trials and errors, including the FBI raiding campus and taking down a few of the big kingpins, fining them tens of thousands of dollars.) Anyone w/ more info, pls post.

^from my understanding yes, i think that's how it works. but that's now how it's set up where i am: for me, it's only people at THIS university which can use it. so it's an even tighter knit community, and thus (presumably) safer.

You can set up hubs in DC++ that are only for uni ip's, but many other hubs have access for regular users also.. :wink:

exactly. and who ever has that hubs server will probably get in trouble. at a university i mean.
