New devlopment for teams this year after FIA's result of lowering downforce due to regulations.

Just goes to show, whatever the FIA do, engineers are always going to work around them. Maybe they should just quit cutting all the technology out n let the teams be as innovative as they like ;)

Does anyone know how that creates downforce? I can only think that it induces some vorticies before the rear wing to increase its effectiveness. Doesn't look like it could make downforce on its own.

I still think downforce should be limited to a fixed maximum value at a certain speed. Would increase overtaking opportunities significantly.

Why would you want vorticies to be created before it goes over the rear wing? you want the flow coming into the rear wing to be as turbulent free as possible

I could be wrong but vorticies in a flow help to avoid separation so you could run a steeper wing effectively without it "stalling". It is usually done by little attachments on the wing itself.

Im not entirely sure but i cant see how that device makes downforce any other way.

mm, as I know, sometimes vorticies aren't that bad. Of course a vortix free fliud is at it's best, but sometimes a desired effect is obtained by vorticies.
I'm not an aerodynamics engineer, but of course those horns create some downforce in their inclined part, and the vertical part must give a direction to the back wing so it can create even more downforce.

the FIA surely will ban those wings just like the x-wings and all of those attempts, and remember, mclaren had an extra wing just behind the driver some... 8 years ago (the last year mclaren had malboro sponsorship, or I'm wrong?)
