That's more like it, very nice!

Looking forward to the M version to be honest. Rumoured to be getting the e46 M3 engine. Should be awesome.

Another red-hot hatch...sadly the exterior doesn't live up to its performance..I guess more extreme looks are being saved for the anticipated M1.

Maybe that´s going to happen cause I don´t think they would develop a 4 cylinder with over 300bhp. I just hope it´s not too heavy.

If it comes, it surely will get an I6 but a one derived from the M5's V10.

Another hot hatch and it's one of the most powerwful of the bunch (even more punch then the awaited Opel Astra). Definatelly very pricey though :/

I doubt it, a V10 doesn't lends itself to being modified to a I6.

And the extremely good e46 I6 engine will be going spare once the M3 has the V8.

Cool car, tough I still dislike the front... :? And the 'Ring time is quite good for a 260hp car.

damn that thing must be heavy, just compare the performance specs against the Z3 or Z4 with the 225hp/220lbft 3.0i: 0-60 5.9s

I wanna see a 130d.

i got a question. Anyone else noticed that BMW has rated both the 330i, and this 130i at 0-60 in 6.2? Something tells me this thing will run in the 5s, liek a 5.6 or 5.8.

This thing does weight less than a 3 series right?

Good point, blah. It might be BMW underrating the performance to keep insurance premiums down.

Or different gearing.

seen ~1440 kgs quoted for the 130i somewhere. dont think thats much less than the 330i

this could be true, but i doubt bmw would change the gearing on these cars. Anyone know if the Sport package cars will get a bump in horsepower like the current 3 series cars? with the ZHP option or something like that.

even when I don't like the car at all, finally it gets a good engine. My guess it's gonna be the I6 from the 3 series.
now your guesses for the price... the posh version is 30000 pounds, and this will be... at least 35000

I am still amazed that the new 3.0L engine could produce 260hp. That is very very impressive.

Like other's said, I think once the M3 moves up to the V8, that would make room for an I6 M engine.

But what are they gonna call it? They can't call it M1.

maybe they wont make an M version of the 1 series. maybe, they would transform the 2 series coupe, thus, the M2. :D just a thought.

Well, I heard the e46 engine was way too expensive to be used in the M1 whereas the I6 derived from the V10 is said to be significantly cheaper.

nice! bout time they gave the 1 a little more ooomph.. nice to see BMW can easily put their 3L I6 in that car... the M version will be absolutely nuts! i hope they give a carbon fibre roof...

I don't like the look of the car - ugly front. It must be 3-door. I've sit in it and when I adjust the seat according to me (I am 178) there's only 10cm between the front and back seat, so what's the point the point to be 5-door when it's definitely a car for 2 people. Also if it was 3-door it would look better. I like Coupé's - big doors, easy to enter and exit, without frame of the window... perfect.

it doesn t look sporty although it has 260 ps?

Ford Capri 2.8i

Firstly the car must be very exciting to drive because of its quite short wheelbase, the rear wheel drive condition, the 260bhp and the usual BMW Motorsports good work in terms of suspension, brake´s settings and so on.......and it will be a very great car to consider although Opel will launch a turbocharged 260 bhp version of the astra, the Golf GTI is a very successful car, and ford will surprise ourselves with the new focus RS for sure......however i think that the car will be quite overprived as the Motorsport versions are and the 1 series is....and the shape looks so so IMO

Where is the 1 series to be launched? i haven't heard anything about it except for what has been mentioned here on JW. It's funny the the DIS/GT1 diag. software that BMW uses has the 1 series listed (E87 i believe) and it's been on there for nearly a year now, yet no release date for the US :?

Maybe they're still considering if they are going to launch it on the US market? But it's idd a bit weird they didn't give any info about a possible US release, since the car is already for sale in Europe since October I think.

Personally i like it, its not a stunner but i like it 8)

I have my disagreements as far as the rear side is concerned but i can leave with it and I can wait until the M version arrives;
for the time being here is the complete High-Res. photo collection of the 130i ...

I saw my first one last week and it surprised me by beeing not as hideous as i had expected, but of course, the ones I have seen were black so the details of the car werent as clear as I would have liked. but it didnt look nearly as heavy as it does in pictures... but with 260bhp I would want one

Nice add to the 1 series family, but M weels ass well as a M aero kit are need to really attract buyers.
