SportAuto just tested a stock SL65 and here are some numbers

0-100km/h 4.3 s
0-160km/h 8,8 s
0-200km/h 13,1 s

Elasticity 4/5 gear
80-100km/h 2,7 / 5,2 s
80-120km/h 4,7 / 8,0 s
80-140km/h 6,7 / 10,5 s
80-160km/h 8,8 / 13,1 s
80-180km/h 10,9 / 16,1 s

Slalom 63,2km/h
36 meter slalom 120km/h
Filechange 110 meter 127km/h

0-200-0km/h 18,5 s
G-power 1,1 g

Nordschleife 8.14 min
Hockenheim 1.15,6 min

A stock SL55 do a laptime around Nordschleife in 8.12 min (without a speedlimit and chassi modification a SL55 doing it in 8.06 min). Reason for SL65 being slower than SL55 around Nordschleife is cause of the 12-cylinder engine. One intresting thing is that SL65 reached a topspeed of 279km/h at Nordschleife. It seems like the germans are forgetting about the 250km/h limit.

Total score (they also presented the score for some other cars) :

Carrera GT 68 p
BMW M5 50 p
Aston Martin DB9 48 p
SL55 AMG 46 p
SL65 43 p

Reason for more points for SL55 is cause the car is a acting more like a sportcar and for having better handling than SL65.

When will they test CLK-DTM?

When will they test CLK-DTM?

...it´s been an "open" version, so limited to 300km/h from AMG...
when someone´s interested i can post the full scan when i´ll be home again...

...from what i´ve heared it´s kinda difficult for SA to get one of the extremely limited CLK DTM´s but be sure - and i´ve read that in previous mags - HvS´s definitely on it to get one this year - spring/summer...!?

do you know anything about how come there are two times for SL55 around Nordschleife, one time is 8.12 min and another one is 8.06 min. What did they do to the car to make it 6 sec faster?

and btw my german isnt great, please fill me up with information about SL65 in the test.

...well as far as I can remember the first supertest in 2002 has been done with a 250kmh el.limited car, back then there even haven´t been an option for a 300kmh limit – today one can order it for something around 2500€ I think…

so the kinda bad result had one major reason: the SL55 drove approx. ONE kilometer within the rev.limiter at 250kmh at the Döttinger Höhe…
another reason had been the annoying behaviour of the ABC suspension, even in sport mode…
and last but not least the well known AMG “problem” – the auto box – in combination with NO limited slip diff.
even with the manual program the SL55 upshifts at the rev limiter itself, a very bad behaviour when driving at the track, and the missing diff forces the auto box to upshift because when the inner wheel starts to spin the increased wheel speed of the spinning wheel results in a very annoying upshift – resulting in time loss…

well, don´t know exactly when but AMG soon acted when more and more ppl made complaints about traction problems and offered a 30% limited slip differential for their CLK55, E55 and SL55.

after that, SA again took the SL55 to the Nordschleife, this time with a 300kmh version and some other mods, I think the sport package or something like this - some mods to chassis/suspension I think - and I clocked a 8:06 then…

so NO, it´s been the same driver, ALL Supertests are done by chief editor Horst von Saurma (HvS)

but again, can´t wait for the CLK DTM :P

*fingers crossed that HvS will get one*

..will post the SL65 Supertest later...

Too bad that MB don´t fit their cars with limited slip diffs and manual boxes, but anyway 8:12 isn´t a bad time around NS :)

BTW, I didn´t know that SportAuto did a Supertest with the DB9
Does someone have it and if so could they please post it ?? :D :D

I just love that car so much

...u mean 8:06 isn´t a bad time
sure it definitely isn´t a bad time but with some changes to suspension and gearbox a sub 8 would be within reach - probably

so with some mods SL55 did it in 8.06 min but a stock SL55 did it in 8.12 min. Then M6 must beat 8.06 min, I belive M6 can do the same time without any modifications

Have you heard if Sportauto will test M5 again, this time with the michelin tires that the car didnt use last time?

 SL65 Supertest scan (http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?p=349483#349483)

nope - i´m afraid haven´t heared of that...

we´ll see - right now the only Supertest i´m desperately waiting for is the one from the 997S - the test is already finished and printable for the mag but HvS haven´t had the chance for a NS lap last fall due to bad weather on testing day... :?

I really hope the M6 will be able to beat the SL55´s time, but only time will tell... Maybe in a couple of months we can see the result :D

i don't see why not. slightly more power, a lot lighter, lower center of gravity, wider track, and it's has a 7 speed manual transmission.

beating SL55's time is almost a given. however, the real question is whether it will crack the 8min mark or not.

I reckon it'll be pretty close...Possibly not even worth hailing the winner.

Interesting test and info. Personally, I think i'd just go for that SL55. I think this is a good example of mercedes overlapping itself in its own market.

And yes, I hope that the M6 beats the SL55, just out of (personal) principle.
