I'm with Laurent.
It has actually been this way since the 80's when you were coming to the USA from certain countries.
They are simply applying the same process to many more countries.
So - no change really.

Like Laurent said, they wanted a more detailed background check before he came to the US. I believe that the US government is also going to apply that same philosophy to frequent US air travelers so they would not have to wait hours in line prior to check in. It's a voluntary process and I think it's a good one. Brembo, I agree; there were large gaps in airport security and foreigner background checks until very recently. IMO, we should adopt even more of the Israeli airport security principles. Anyways, one less anti-US (but I'm sure he is pro US dollar) artiste to worry about being in my country.

You want the US to adopt even more of the Israeli airport security principles? How's that gonna help? There's not a place in the world with more terrorist attacs than Israel. (apart from Irac, but that's hardly a good reference).
Like brembo said, people with bad intentions will always find a way to get in. This way you're only chasing away the good ones. :(
And I don't think Laurent Garnier has a cash problem.
TT, perhaps you can switch this thread to the Political section now.
