Well it's really only about 97% complete. The Dyno isn't ready yet and a few of the lifts had leaks in the lines but other than that it's going. Only it cost more than originaly intended.

First off the outside of the entire Building (other technologies)

you'll also notice the used fluids tanks.

Next are the Alignment racks with the newest alignment machines from Hunter.

Yeah I know it's alot, that includes the construction and labor aswell.
There is a Ventilation system that includes an insane Furnace and Air conditioning unit and a sweet filtration system that changes the air in the shop 7 times an hour. it supossedly cost a few million. There are 2 large parts cleaners, 2 sonic washers, 3 pro-cut on car brake lathes, 1 older anco on car and 3 bench lathes. wall mounted strut/spring compressors, 2 media blasters, a chemical bath. Engine lab with 24 stations all with draining tables so the shit doesn't get all over the place, it;s the same in the Transmission lab. three 2 ton engine cranes and five 1 ton, 30 engine stands 10 transmission jacks/stands. 20 computers throughout the department, at the bays and in the classrooms. I forgot to mention there are 11 lifts and then the Dyno.

That's a really nice setup there. Good looking shop. As for the Pagani and Koenigsegg, i don't think they're legally allowed to be sold in the US, even though there have been some driving around. That might be the reason.

Really nice... all this money to train you guys who spin the wrenches on our cars...

But prey tell me why do they still fuck them up daily.

Cruising the Vette , Scubi , Mustang , Mitsu, BMW forums etc all you find are horror stories ranging from erasing tunes, to jacking from the wrong points, incorrect alignments, trashed interiors etc etc.

So much so that almost any performance car guy/gal you ask will tell you they NEVER take their cars to a dealer.

:)

Seems the money is being spent in the wrong areas.

Maybe work ethic and attention to detail need to be the focus, rather than "new gadgets".

:)

You have a very good point RC and that's why if we are caught not using fender mats we get a warning and next time it's a grade lower on the lab. We are taught how to properly work on the computer without erasing any computer tuning but on the other hand it's the customers job to tell us that they have changed things from stock. In my advanced specialization class we have to document with pictures everything we do on the car including printing up Alldata procedures. We have to learn how to properly fill out work orders with the Customer and asking them if there is anything they have done to the car. And also alot of the people out in the field have not gotten proper training to this degree alot of them start in a little private shop then move on to the bigger shops and dealerships where they aren't taught alot of the things we are. We also for every car in the shop have to look up the lift points on the lift and show the instructor before we lift the car. Granted it sounds stupid and repetitive but it really gets you to learn good habits. Also we have to wear Safety glasses and gloves are highly recommended but not required at this point. For the Computer end of it we are taught how to use the big 3's proprietary scan tools aswell as the SnapOn scanner and Solis scanner we have to universal Tech 2's and 2 Genisis scanners, all of them can warn you of computer tuning btw.

whats the limit on the dyno

they say it can handle 800hp since today 500hp is becoming common in factory cars even.

So what exactly are you going to school for?
Mechanic or engineer..

I am going for Automotive specialist which is basically someone who would work for the Automotive companies either in R&D along with the Engineers or even as a Regional Rep type person. So more than a normal Blue Collar Mechaninc but not quite an Engineer. 2 of my teachers did the same thing for a while before they decided to teach. It intails 3 associates degrees and something like 12 certificates, all ASE tests and then a Bachelors after that.
