OK I tried searching but really couldn't find anything worth while.
I'm urgently looking for a ggod video editor that will allow me to cut up and put together video clips for class. I am willing to pay a small amount for the program. It would be nice if it was able to convert PAL to NTSC and vice versa.
Thank You in advance.

For video editing, adobe premiere is probably one of the best tools for the job. But it's rather pricy so it's mostly likely over your budget.

If you're using WinXP, you can always use the movie editing tool that comes with it. Otherwise, you should be able to find programs like Ulead VideoStudio on video card driver cds. There's a free trial version available if you don't know anyone with it.

For less complex editing jobs, you can always use VirtualDub and TMPGEnc. They're probably the best free alternatives around.

Have fun!

ok I tried movie maker and it pulls up the file but crashes once I move the file around
Virtual Dub can't do anything for some reason and I tried a trial of Ulead but it said my trial has expired. WTF is going on?

All I need is the tire blowout/runflat special from Fifth Gear series 5 part 4 and of course it's in 3 parts so I have to put them together somehow and nothing seems to want to let me do it.

It's the video I got from here so I'm guessing it's a Divx encoded file. I downloaded the latest version of Virtual Dub and no luck. And my Movie Maker is up to date. I have roughly 100 gigs unused HD space and 512 ram so that should be enough for what I am doing. is there a way to get the raw avi from a Divx?

take a look on download.com... there are a fair number of video converters, editors, etc.

I did a quick search and found a converter that might work for you.

Just use TMPGEnc to open the divx and cut out the parts you dont need, then encode to mpg. You can do the editing in Setting > Advacned > Source range > Cut editing

I need something that can convert PAL to NSTC so I can play it on my US TV. I think Virtual Dub does this right? I gotta go for now I will be on hopefully soon. :D I just got the Hot Metal DVD ripp from here thanks to Jabba and everyone else who helped and then I tried not one but two ( 2 ) times to burn the DVD and then play in my DVD player but it says TV system not reconiziged or something? SO any help or solution on this please?

let us know how it goes, and try others if that one doesnt work. good luck

Sure thing right now I am trying Atlantis. Its not going as good as I was hoping! :( It only does .AVI and .MOV files! So I guess Atlantis is out of the question becuase I am trying to convert a ISO file. Unless I can somehow get that into .AVI or somehting? I will now try some links on google I guess! :D

*EDIT*

Wait can someone confirm that the Hot Metal DVD rip is in PAL? Maybe I should PM TT and ask him he should know?

*EDIT*

DAMNIT!

I did this search - http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=en&lr=&newwindow=1&q=ISO+PAL+to+NTSC+ISO&btnG=Search

and this is the only one that kinda helped and I am not sure about it at all either! :(

dont know what to say dude, hope someone thats better then me in this area can help out. personally i dont even have a dvd burner yet so i havent bothered in learning how to change one to the other so i dont know much about it.

but seeing as this topic isnt about PAL to NSTC, i would say use the search on here to see if anyone has posted asking the same question and if not make a new thread specificly for this.

i think we have hijacked this thread enough. eheh

Yeah I think I should just search a bit and then I will make the thread! :D BTW sorry guys for hijacking the thread. Kinda got carried away! Hehe.
