From the Official Aston Forum:

380bhp
410 lb ft of torque
1570 kg
0-60 mph 4.8
0-100 mph 10.7
30-70 mph faster than new 911 C2S
Laps The Ring in 8.07 mins. Don't trust Clarckson  (8.05 for C2S and 8.01 for DB9)

Externally very similar to concept, but different wheels.
Similar interior to DB9 except different steering wheel and wood on dash replaced by metal or carbon fibre as standard with wood as option.
Colour of launch car to be Metallic Canary yellow!

Ok, so what do you think of it? I think it looks much better than the 911, but it's too heavy...

blah

Very Nice GT, in reality the choice is this or CLK55, or 645Ci, and maybe a regular 911. I still dont see it competiting with a Carrera S, the weight just restricts it to much. Still this is a very very very good car.

nice, thanks for the info, 380hp and 410 tq seem to be pretty respectable numbers and such a beautiful shape. anyone know what the pricing is going to look like?

Price should be between the 911 Carrera S and the Turbo.

Why does Aston make their cars so heavy?? They have the knowledge and the technology to do much better. The Vanquish for example..Carbon fibre+aluminium and over 1800kg's in weight. I'm not moaning because the car has a phenomenal laptime, but it has even more potantial that has to put up with the weight and carry it where ever it goes.

Canary yellow...doesn't suit an Aston :(

Muich better looking that the BMW or 911 , as clarkson said , prolly the best looking aston ever

Well, who of the future Aston Owners will really use this thing on the ring. Almost none. The important stuff is, you look way better in an Aston in front of the 4 Seasons, than you do in a 911.
And even if it was pink with brown stars on it.. I still would want one.

My 2 cents worth

Well, who of the future Aston Owners will really use this thing on the ring. Almost none. The important stuff is, you look way better in an Aston in front of the 4 Seasons, than you do in a 911.

Agree completely. The Aston customer usually doesn't care about the weight and the Nordschleiffe laptime... And as Driftzwerg has said... the image of the Aston is 10 times more exclusive than the image of a 997.

Yeah, but don't you agree that the Canary Yellow kinda ridicules this purpose?
I mean, what aston customer would buy one in yellow for appearing at the 4 seasons...I would think they would probably be more discreet....
I think they are making a huge mistake buy making the launch car yellow, in order to give it a 'cooler' image...
Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but The aston customer will probably not have one in yellow...They buy their trainers in that colour...

the car doesnt look must different to the current db9, just some details here and there, but then again all astons look pretty similar. Everytime i see it, it just screams "Its a bond car!"

The fact of the matter is that the DB9 and the AMV8 are the only two cars I would desire even if the engine is as powerful as the beetles

Awesome styling and great noise as well from what I've heard on videos. Not quite as good looking as the DB9 but then you'd have to do something pretty special to out do that. Seems very heavy when you consider the weight of a Porsche 911 for instance though. Saying that, Aston are supposed to be a luxury brand so maybe we should expect the extra weight due to it being better equipped/upholstered?

Hm, interesting. thanks for the pics TT. I dunno if i'd say i'm "sold" yet. I really liked the way the concept looked, and even tho i've yet to compare them side by side, this somehow looks different.... wheels and something in the nose and lights. db9 is more beautiful IMO. i'll have to wait for some more pics. and dang, these brits are heavy...

Aston Martin organised a special viewing of the new V8 Vantage for British dealers, so these pictures weren't supposed to be made public. The car was going to be unveiled at the Geneva show. It looks fingerlicking good! Not too sure about the yellow though... :?

I think the AMV8 looks fantastic - aggressive yet subtle styling like a real Aston.

Hemi-fan : Dr. Bez Ullrich (Aston's CEO) said that the first line of models from Aston Martin were all going to follow a similar design pattern rather than than each being completely individual.

From a manufacturing process, this is to reduce costs and development time so that the cars all use their new VH platform. The main point was from a design perspective however; apparently they wanted to re-create the strong brand association with Aston Martin once more before they start to diversify model design.

In his words it is so people can recognise the fact that the car is an Aston, not so that they can recognise which Aston it is. Once the new lines become familiar, the designs will start to become more indivdual and you will see more unique models.

Hope that helps! :)

I think an important point is this - if a 911 drives past you, you might glance but you're not really that bothered. If one of these burbles past, you're gonna stop, stare, gawp and perhaps wet yourself. That's the difference. I can't wait to hear one of these getting nailed through central London in the middle of the night...

coombsie66

^^ Couldnt have put it better mike.
And i like the way that the test mule has bundles of totally undesipherable wires all over the place, and tip ties as far as the eye can see in the engine bay!
(its not just our car mike, even the professional's do it! )

New info from Car magazine (April) :

380bhp at 7300rpm
308lbft at 5000rpm
4.8 sec 0-60
175mph (Electronically limited)
1572kg kerb weight

I found the original torque figure quite strange considering the output..This one seems to be more realistic.

British racing green would look gr8, but this green totally doesn't suit the character of the car.
