I received an email claiming to be from Paypal (no tm.). It had said my account was suspended. Click here to log in and view. I was suspicious, since I don't have a Paypal, and viewed the link. The gif had a link to some site who knows where.

you actually clicked the link? or no? one of g/f's friends fell for that and whoever originated the scam, took over his ebay account and racked up 10K in purchases before he caught on.

Impressive what people will do these days, The P P P Powerbook posted some weeks ago is by far the best!

in cases like these if in doubt - always ignore any link in the email and got to www.paypal.com and check your account status, that way you can never be scammed (well except for by paypal themselves)

also if it turns out it is a scam then report said scammers to paypal ASAP so they get the smackdown

No, I right-clicked the gif and copied the shortcut. Then went to the real paypal site and sent them a copy.

basicley in these cases it's always best to asume it's a fake until you can know otherwise.
