I love this car, it's simply beautifull. I really really hope Porsche takes this car racing in a factory backed program.

The Porsche Ceramic Composite Clutch it uses.
This is how it is cut off the composite material using a 3000 bar(!) water jet.

Awesome pics (especially the clutch ones--haven't seen those before). I really like this car as well. Originally I didn't really like its looks, but they've grown on me some (still looks awkward in some angles though). More importantly, the tech in this car is awesome (in the vids I've seen the motor sounds like a muffled F1 car!), as are the specs. Although it might not beat an Enzo flat out in a straight line, it could certainly be pretty damn competitive on a track. I can't wait until the first Carrera GT/ Enzo/Mclaren F1 comparo.

Apparently the high up shifter is going to carry over to all next gen 911s... meh, looks kinda funny to me, although it's probably awesome for quick shifts.

No problem, I came across them and thought they were nice pics so I posted them.

Yes, Tiff does need to do a comparison on those cars. I would love to see that!

The only video of it, that I've seen, is the commercial. You can find it here:
http://www.lad.lv/~martini/porsche/default.asp?l=eng&Sub=3&SubSub=2

Very nice pictures. If someone finds more, post them plz. I like the looks of this car. And it's a Porsche, so it will be very interesting to see it compared with the other recent supercars. The chanses of a straight comparison ... is rather slim, because these car's aren't so easy to get by. But I hope Tiff can do a test in them. I like JC, but for a supercars comparison, I rather rely on Tiff.

I was impressed by the picture of the ceramic brakes and the waterjet working at 3000 bar, that incredible! If they point that thing at a men it would just go right through you! I allways wondered why those brakes were so expensive... In the 911Turbo they're available as an option for 7500euro.

yep, I see, I was wrong. Must have read over it too fast. I've never heard of ceramic clutches before this car.

That's the biggest problem with the Murciélago along to a lot of reviewers. The clutch isn't good enough for putting that kinda power to the wheels. The Pagani has a double clutch or something like that. When you try to pull hard from standstill with the lambo, you get a blue cloud, wich is part of the clutch that burnt. Just some piece of info I like to share with you folks :) What I want to say: a ceramic clutch should be a very good thing!

the reason why you haven't heard of ceramic clutches before is because the carrera gt is the first production car ever to use one

Here is another video of the Carrera GT. It has a couple onboard cameras and it's zipping around Liepzig I believe.

this is probably the best CGT vid so far and it`s been up on the official Porsche site for a while.
it`s the first presentation so there are a few spots on the car that are taped. i`m afraid it`s not the test track next to the factory in leipzig, it`s the test track at the R&D departement at weissach. the driver is chief test driver and chief engineer Roland Kussmaul...lucky bastard

here are a few impressions:

Well, i said before on RF that BRAMSHAWS (link to website below)

http://dealersdesktop.co.uk/websites/81483/

I went in one time with a good digi camera and snapped up the murcielago and the gt2 and the sl55 and 360, 550 etc...

I obviously started up a conversation with one of the younger sales men.
We were chatting away "gt2 has no psm etc etc....the novelty wears off supercars etc etc.."

Anyway, he said "in the summer we plann to get 2 enzo's, and we also have one of the carrera gt's comming"

When i heard this i couldnt contain myself. I wanted to say take down my number and ring me when they come ....lol as if???

So apparently they are comming....soon.

I WILL be there as soon as i see them, ill get some good 1024x768 shots for desktops. I cant wait to see one in person. enzo or GT?

just thought id let you know!!
safe.
gat.

Dayumm Scooby you must either have telephoto eyes or sit too dam close to your monitor....... 1024x768 is standard for 19" screens

For that matter I have a 23" Trinitron Professional Graphics monitor and I use 1024x768 so I don't have to crawl up on the desk to read stuff !!! LOL

I was not referring to my monitor  but since u have mentioned my screen - i use the large fonts so things are not that tiny -they normal size in fact and i enjoy a much sharper picture on screen - nice to watch DVD`s and check high quality photo`s out..

man, the CGT must be really uncomfortable to drive...i drove a GT3 with pedals like the CGT and it wasn't as good of a feeling as the pedals that most common cars have...also, the shifter is manual rite!? the shifter looks like its lil bit out of place, to high up the dash...you haf to actually reach out for shifting...

gucom
03-12-2004, 06:42 PM
man erm 1st of all the shifter is directly next to the steering wheel, so its not reaching out, its just there where u need it. 2nd of all i heard the pedal positions are perfect, and compared to the enzo, i bet it's comfy as hell

MercedeSChink
03-13-2004, 11:32 AM
hey, yur probably right, yur probably wrong...we don't know, my opinion is based on assumptions...i guess the shifter, i'm used to hafin where it is, not next to the wheel...as for the pedals, i'm not sure about that also, cuz as i said before, it wasn't too comfortable driving with it, especially going full throttle...
